Within the the 1st hour after the Supreme Court announced Obamacare legislation would stand, the Romney Presidential campaign coffers were flooded with campaign donations. This one decision has totally fired up the base like nothing else could.
Chief Justice Roberts said, in so many words, if you don't like the law, throw out the politicians who passed the law. That will be a rallying call for the large majority of Americans who do not like the intrusive law that was forced upon them.
If Democrats want an inkling of what's in store for them this November, they just have to look at the smashing defeat they were handed in the 2010 elections, when Americans had their first opportunity to express their feelings of how they felt towards the Obamacare bill.
Along the Arizona/Mexican border, dozens of heavily armed spotters man look out points on mountain peaks commanding the shimmering, parched landscape below. They usually man these posts for two weeks at a time, taking provisions with them to last the entire 14 days. They are equipped with night vision technology, powerful binoculars and high tech communications able to keep them in touch with command centers miles away.
But these aren't US military personnel or law enforcement, they are soldiers of powerful Mexican drug cartels, who own these crossing points where vast amounts of drugs and human traffickers stream into the United States. These spotters are on the look out for the US border patrol who is tasked with keeping these invaders out. Hamstrung by the vast areas of desolate country they have to patrol, as well as having to respect environmentally sensitive areas which the cartels could care less about, our forces are out manned and outgunned.
Like the Cohen Brothers movie, "No country for old men," the undercurrent of this landscape is harsh, lawless and violent. It is ruled by brutal men, who do not hesitate to resort to violence in order to protect their investment in drugs and human trafficking. Headless bodies and rape trees tell the tale of how brutal this place can be.
The Supreme Court will rule this week whether President Obama's health care bill is constitutional and whether his Justice Department under embattled Eric Holder can stop Arizona from enforcing immigration law.
The administrations prestige is riding on the outcome of these decisions.
Since the President has touted himself as a constitutional scholar, you would think a positive outcome for him is a foregone conclusion. But most legal experts have said Obamacare is an overreached Frankenstein monster of a law and flawed constitutionally as it forces citizens to purchase private insurance.
For the past year and a half, a Congressional oversight committee has been asking for cooperation from the Obama administration. This cooperation includes document requests and testimony related to the smoldering gun running scandal known as Fast and Furious. For 1 1/2 years, the Justice Department, headed by Attorney General Eric Holder has not been fully complying with their requests and subpoenas. His underlings have provided conflicting testimony and some have been transferred in order to make it more difficult to question them.
What's at the crux of the Fast and Furious gun running scandal is that the federal government purposely let thousands of high powered, dangerous guns be sold illegally in Arizona under the guise of tracking them to their criminal destinations. But hardly any of the guns were tracked and they eventually fell into the hands of criminals and gangs. These guns were responsible for crimes on both sides of the border, the deaths of hundreds of Mexican citizens and the death of at least one of our own Federal border agents.
But some people have openly stated the real motive was to make Arizona look like a lawless, out of control, gun ridden area that needed to be clamped down on by the Federal government.
If America is going to change it's immigration laws, it must be done with the cooperation of all branches of our government.
Yes Mr. President, you and others in Congress wanted to pass an amnesty law known as the Dream Act. But it never made it through that pesky Congress the American people voted in to represent them. But just because Congress didn't pass a law that you wanted enacted, doesn't give you the power to flaunt the will of the people and snub them by signing an "executive order."
Security experts have been quoted they have never seen the magnitude of such leaks in their experience. These leaks could be responsible for the deaths of many who work in the clandestine world of intelligence and result in the crippling of America's ability to defend itself in the war on terror. But the leaks all have one thing in common: They portray President Obama in a good light.
