57% of Immigrants in America are on Public Assistance

At the Statue of Liberty on Ellis Island, is the plaque that says: Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses.
OK, enough already, we have all of them we can use.
The shocking statistics tell a tale of a failing immigration system, when 57% of immigrants with children in America, legal and illegal, are on some sort of public assistance. Where's the benefit of this for American citizens?
States all over America are staggering under the enormous debt of entitlements and part of that debt is incurred by massive waves of immigrants, up to 20 million illegal aliens are included in this.

http://blog.chron.com/txpotomac/2011/04/study-70-of-texas-illegal-immigrant-families-receive-welfare/
http://www.disabled-world.com/news/america/immigrants.php
But is there something sinister underlying this wave of immigrants, who are burdening our welfare systems? Some say it seems to be aided and abetted by political leaders who look upon these immigrants on the dole as huge voter blocs who will vote for the politicians who give them the most benefits. As an aside, it was revealed 70% of people who receive free healthcare in Massachusetts are illegal aliens.
It almost seems the modus operandi of this government is to encourage, aid and abet the exodus of good paying jobs out of this country and import massive amounts of poor immigrants who are getting on the dole. Just look at who the White House chief on job development in our country is: Jeff Immelt, the CEO of GE who is an exporter of American jobs out of our country.
Any states that try to get a handle on their illegal immigration burden by enacting laws and statutes that actually mimic the federal laws, are immediately set upon by the justice department and buried in lawsuits.
Some of the louder voices in the Congressional Black Caucus have actually started to question President Obamas economic policies and are complaining that their constituents are suffering high rates of unemployment. Of course in the next breath they blame the Tea Party!...Hello!
If you want to help the unemployment rate, get a handle on the legal and illegal immigration probelm. We need to close the borders NOW and enforce the immigration laws NOW that are on the books. Include the enforcement of requiring sponsors for immigrants to be economically responsible for them, instead of becoming burdens on the American taxpayer.

Hi Joan: It is the September 1 piece I did titled GOP Presidential candidate Congressman McCotter talks to Irish Central. See what you think :)
joanxis | Sep 06, 2011, 08:50 AM EDT
Sorry Ed. I don't know where that interview is.
EdinCali | Sep 05, 2011, 01:38 PM EDT
Joan If you read the interview I did w/ Thaddeus McCotter, he is a big proponent of e-verify. He is also for heavy sanctions for those who draw illegal immigrants to our country.
joanxis | Sep 05, 2011, 08:52 AM EDT
Does anyone else wonder why the people(companies) who hire these illegal immigrants to work for them - aren't punished more? I say go after the ones who hire the II's.

Thanks to the U.S tax system my money doesn't go to illegals. I donate to whom and where I see fit. Workers money should never go to those who will not work.

@tomdoh345--the article is about the percentage of immigrants on public assistance--your solution is throw more money @ the problem. Won't that just raise the percentage? Why don't we just have Gates & Buffet send their money to them & then they do not have to come here for public assistance.

The construction industry in California has been buried by illegal aliens. They undercut the price so much legitimate business cant compete. The state does nothing to protect the private sector citizens because it is a "sanctuary state" and allows the killing of this industry. But will hound a legitimate business into the ground with regulations/rules/fees/audits. I would like to see the howls of those in the fire fighting/public sector unions if all of a sudden your jobs were open to competition from non citizens who would work for a fraction of what you get. There is no justice, there will be no peace.

They also bring their parents into this country to babysit the grandchildren while they work under the table (off the books). When the parents become elderly SSI comes to the rescue and the adult children also collect a salary from IHSS (SUEI union) to care for the elderly parent. Is it any wonder this country is broke? The laws already on the books are not enforced so there is no hope that laws preventing this practice will work either.

hollabackgirl is a crazy--doesn't merit a response. I suspect "she" is the same person as another regular poster here who is also a big fan of immigration, though I can't prove it yet.

hollabackgurl: Bash the poor, bash the immigrants, bash the gays, bash the Muslims, bash seniors, bash the infirm" What about your anti-white cult that bashes us whites 24/7? "b-but... we are all the same and equal. We all bleed red... but us horrible white people and only white people are evil "racists" and besides nobody is really white, and you better support mass immigration and forced integration in all white countries and ONLY white countries"

We are constantly told that ILLEGAL ALIENS "are just here to work", but at the same time told that "they only take jobs Americans wouldn't do anyway." Hogwash! The ironic thing is just WHOSE jobs they've actually taken. ILLEGALS now occupy most of the unskilled entry-leval jobs that inner-city youths used to start out with. All the Construction, Light Manufacturing, and Agriculture jobs that poorly-educated Blacks (and Whites) used to gravitate to have been taken over by Illegals. They have literally crowded out independent Union contractors and craftsmen in the building trades - I personally know two roofers and a drywaller who each closed their businesses after being continually underbid by unlicensed, non-union Illegals. They could not pay all their taxes, insurances, licensing fees, and union dues, and still compete with an Illegal who has no more business overhead than the tools in his toolbox. Illegals all work "under the table", so they don't pay ANY of those overhead costs, so they can always afford to underbid a dues-paying, licensed craftsman. I say it's "ironic" whose jobs they steal, because two of Mr Obama's strongest supporters are Blacks and Union members, and they are PRECISELY the two groups his Administration's immigration policies are screwing over the most, all in hopes of bringing in more lifetime Democrats.

I think since we cannot look at illegal aliens sideways without their respective groups jumping on us for being "racists!" it is difficult to know how many of them are on public assistance. Every one who has an anchor baby for starters. Hey hollabackgurl, go someplace to threaten folks. There are just waaay too many folks worn out with the iodicy of your brand. Don't threaten anyone with the illegal alien parasites.

So which GOP / TP nutcase is the best to fix up this problem ? Actually the only way to fix the lack of both state and federal money is to tax the rich at Eisenhower tax rates ( you may be too young to remember when that Republican socialist ran the country and it worked!! ). And while you are at it why do commoners ( people making < $106,000 ) pay 6.2% of their salary into the Social Security Fund while the well off pay less ( Gates and Buffet probably only pay .000062% of their salaries into the SS Fund).
EdinCali | Aug 25, 2011, 11:35 PM EDT
Well thanks Maloney, Everyone is entitled to their opinion and we all have one and that's what it is all about...so no problem. I write it as I see it.
Monsoonman | Aug 25, 2011, 11:12 AM EDT
I think most Americans are all for LEGAL immigration. Sign the guest book when you come in, learn our language,(ENGLISH) and laws, swear allegiance to your new country and DONT be a burden to the country, be an asset. Who said it was a constitutional right to come here and immediately take advantage of our welfare systems? The systems were designed to help out needy Americans. Now they're overburdened, Bby those who think it is a natural generational right to live off the country. Sorry if you one worlders are offended but the people who have to pay for all of this are fed up and there is going to be a huge backlash, you've pushed things way too far.
hollabackgurl | Aug 25, 2011, 08:22 AM EDT
By the way I plan to report this completely irresponsible and odious article as an incitement to hatred. Expect to be hearing from Immigrants rights groups. You can't just make stuff up to menace a community you apparently don't respect.
hollabackgurl | Aug 25, 2011, 08:17 AM EDT
You didn't cite the source of this statistic because it doesn't exist. Bash the poor, bash the immigrants, bash the gays, bash the Muslims, bash seniors, bash the infirm - and work hard night and day to make sure the rich get even greater tax breaks. You're a water carrier for the GOP. But even you need to stop buying your own b.s. sometime.
hollabackgurl | Aug 25, 2011, 08:07 AM EDT
What a crock...

Interesting article, Farnan. I suspect the figure would be similar in the case of Ireland, but over there the state agencies refuse to analyze figures on immigration, and the politicians (of all parties) avoiding asking questions about it. The result is that immigration has never been debated in the parliament. It seems to me, as a regular visitor to Ireland, that the pattern of immigration is changing. The folks who came to work 8 or 10 years ago have now lost jobs, but they haven't left. You'll see them collecting dole in the Post Offices throughout the country. And there's a new element, a whole new wave of immigration from the Indian subcontinent. Why the Irish employers need to import Pakistanis, Indians etc. is a question that I have never heard answered. And I'm not talking about doctors, though many hundreds of Third World doctors are headed for Ireland. (Be very afraid, American tourists, if you fall ill over there!) I'm talking about sales assistants, security guards etc. Even the PA voice at Dublin Airport was a guy who sounded like he was just off the plane from Bangla Desh. The Irish shouldn't dare come here looking for work, when they give countless jobs in their own country to foreigners.
