Britain's best known chain of Irish pubs, O'Neills, it bracing itself for a world record attempt at the most number of people Irish dancing simultaneously this March.

The record breaking attempt will be made on March 14th, three days' before St Patricks Day, and will be held at the company's 49 pubs across the UK.

The record to beat currently stands at 10,036, according to the event organizers, but the publicans are cautiously confident of success.

The coordinated dance will begin at eight pm across all of the pub's branches and the company has put out an instructional video (below) for those looking to learn the moves in time.

Other Irish dancing world records include the longest ever Riverdance line - 312 dancers long, and established at the 35th Annual Rockland County Feis - as well, more famously, as Michael Flatley's record for the fastest tapping speed, timed at an incredible 35 taps per second.

That guitar player should try to learn a second chord.
Get ready to cringe. Irish Dancing, as defined by these oafs, means hopping around like an elephant with diarrhea.
