The July/August issue of North America’s favorite Irish dancing magazine, Feis America, is about to be mailed out to subscribers. I can't watch the irish dancing contest in the States and Canada, it has got so out of hand. Parents trying to out-do each other with sparkly dresses on the children, and the wigs, my god. You get to the stage you are watching the big bouncy wig waiting for it to fall off instead of looking at the feet. In Ireland we are laughing at them, a craze like the child pageant that is over there, 5-6 year olds done up to look like 18yr old beauty queens. The dancer...great, just get rid of the stupid gear. Some great dancers here are refusing to enter world contests now, because they feel foolish wearing a wig and frilly frilly dress, this is taking our irish dancing tradition to the extreme.
