Irish dance competitors
Eastern Canada, like most of the other regions of the Irish Dance Teachers Association of North America, encourages the newest and youngest Irish dancers to participate in the annual regional championships.

In Eastern Canada, these competitions are called Premiere Competitions, and dancers are recommended by their teachers and entered by age group.

Unlike the solo competitions at the champion level which determine World Irish Dancing Championships and North American National Irish Dancing qualifications this is considered an important practice in a competitive Irish dancer's journey from grades to champion.

Often, an Irish dancer's entire family travels to the venue for the regional championships, and welcomes the opportunity for its newer or younger dancers to participate in this prestigious event.  Traditional costumes and traditional set dances, such as St. Patrick's Day, Job of Journeywork and Blackbird are performed by three dancers at a time in front of a panel of certified adjudicators.

This year's Eastern Canadian Regional Irish Dancing Championships were held at the Westin in Ottawa.  Peter Moran and his team of expert tabulators kindly provided Feis America, North America's favorite Irish dancing magazine, with official results and we are pleased to share the Premiere Competition champions and placements with our readers here on Go Feis! The Irish Dance Blog on Irish Central.

Congratulations to all who placed, especially champions Jacklynn Bowdery, Madison Banting, Eimear Ward, Leah McIver, Amanda Kelly and Madison Sanders!
