Wristbands purchased on-site for $10 and $15 will give attendees access to local restaurants such as Bar 43, Quaint, Dog & Duck, Café Marlene, Claret, Molly Blooms and Aubergine Café, among others, who will dish out local favorites to the musical backdrop of neighborhood-native bands. Raffles, trivia and other activities will offer ways for adults and children to get involved.
All proceeds will be donated directly to licensed nonprofit organizations in the hardest-hit areas.
R.U.S.H. started (in a “rush”) as a conversation between event organizer Ty Sullivan and now entertainment committee member Trevor Bowen as a way to make money for the relief. Within 12 hours of their initial conversation, Sullivan and Bowen had organized a full-fledged concert and community happening with the help of Gina Rattan of the Sunnyside Cares group and the owners of Bar 43 in Sunnyside.
“The impact of the hurricane is being felt in our community, and we felt the need to give everyone a chance to be involved in helping. Through the R.U.S.H. concert, we aim to raise $50,000 to ensure that there is an immediate result in needed items,” said Sullivan.
R.U.S.H will simultaneously be conducting a social media campaign, to include a Tweetathon beginning a few days before the event through the event handle #Sunnysidecares.
Meanwhile, www.facebook.com/sunnysidecares remains the main online resource for the event.
