Just as her mother aims to charm America with an outdoorsy portrait of her Alaskan fairy tale life, along comes her potty mouthed daughter to harpoon the whole enterprise with a disastrous post on Facebook.Responding to teenage critics of her mother's reality show, young Willow Palin unleashed a shocking tirade on another teen, calling him "so gay" and "such a faggot."
Whilst it's fair to say the majority of America's teens have at one time or another used the term gay as a pejorative, it's uncommon to hear the f-bomb unleashed so casually these days. Because at heart kids know it's just wrong.
The timing could not be worse for Willow's mother, who has been busy crafting a wholesome storyline that her daughter's words and actions now call into question. Before you can say gosh darn it, all those months of reality show preparation have gone up in STFU smoke.
From her comments, which are defensive and sour when they're not inarticulate, it's clear that Palin's daughter (if it actually is her) has quite a mean streak. The whole nation has just reflected on the lessons learned from a shocking spate of teenage gay (or accused of being gay) suicides. The bullies who hounded those young people to their deaths used the exact hateful taunts that Willow writes without hesitation.
"Sorry that all you guys are jealous of my families success and you guys aren't goin to go anywhere with your lives," she scoffed.
Way to stick it to those Alaskan hicks, Willow. You stay classy.
Some will claim it's unfair to hold Palin's daughter to account for her own hateful language. She's 16, they say, she's off limits. But perhaps we should care that she expresses herself so casually in such bigoted, homophobic language because of what it says about her background or her apparent lack of compassion - it certainly reflects poorly on her family life and her mother's ambitions.
If this is still some people's idea of normal high school banter they need to get out more. Most teens these days recognize hatefulness when they hear it. Willow Palin certainly didn't create the world where gay equals unequal, but like her mother, she appears to be working hard to prolong it.

Having taught teenagers for over 30 years now, I can say that the casual way in which they use these 2 words has nothing to do with sexual orientation. I do not advocate using these words in conversation, but the connotation (USUALLY) isn't aimed at a person or persons. In fact, several of my students, who themselves are openly "gay," use these same words to describe just about anything.....clothing, an assignment, a fumble on the football field....you name it, if they don't like it, they will pronounce it "gay," or declare "he/she is such a faggot," meaning the person in question is probably doing something "gay!"

This didn't deserve the attention of Irish Central. Again, the far left slamming the right with their righteous attitude.

hollabackgurl, First of all I don't think myself superior to anybody, I don't accept the orientation spin. I believe some people have an inclination toward homosexual behaviour and that it is not pre-determined. On the life-soan of female homosexuals, I will check out your claims as to their validity. The insulting and abusive comments to which I referred were not on this topic or on Willow Palin being the target of such attacks, but were on other subjects arising out of articles on Irish Central. However the namcalling I mentioned was that which Willow Palin indulged in and to which the first sentence of my original comment was directed.

this is so funny that this makes the news. If anyone has raised any teenagers- have you listened to their coversations-this is mild. Willow is talking how every teenager talks and I have raised 5. the only problem here is the absolute hatred of her family so they make these riduculous statements to make a mountain out of a mole hill. you should all be ashamed and get on with your lives.

Mr. O'Doherty practices censorship. I wrote a lengthy response to his abusive blog, and had clearly he prevented it from being posted so as to show his refusal to listen to the truth...Im going back to watching Glenn Beck...more intelligent anyway

@RevJames..."Underage pregnancy, drug abuse, underage drinking, filthy languge, revenge politics, vandalism...ALL STAPLES OF THE LUNATIC LEFT. So what's your problem? Newsflash, wingnuts: Willow talks the way that most kids her age talk to each other. Maybe they should all be "nicer" to each other as a rule...but the only thing out of the ordinary here is that Willow belongs to a high-profile family that is the object of insane hatred and abuse by bitter Leftists, 24-7-365.

Doesn't this mean that he has not verified these are her words? Shouldn't you have the facts straight prior to writing the story?
Also, her outburst startles nation? Really?
People out of work, losing homes, drowning in debt, country at war, silly teen uses nasty words...
Oh yes, definitely, Willow Palin's words tops the list of things that have startled the USA.

The favorite liberal expression to describe Tea Party members is teabaggers. Even John Stewart castigated his own ilk for constantly using the gross expression. But you hear the moral outrage because a young 16 year old girl said gay and faggot, lol what a bunch of hypocrites. I used to be gay all of the time, especially when it was cold out and I could throw a couple of faggots on the fire, but oh no, can't use those words anymore, they were hijacked. Now i have to settle for being happy and throwing some kindling on the fire.
