| Big boost for Barack Obama's campaign |
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. added 114,000 jobs in September, bringing the unemployment rate down to 7.8 percent - its first time below 8 percent this year and its lowest rate since Obama took office.
Reaction at the Romney camp will run like this: 'Mr President, you said you would being unemployment below 8%! Ah, heck...'
There was further news for the administration, too: numbers for July and August were revised upward to show 86,000 more jobs were created than previously reported.
This is only poll that matters. And the president who believes in the long game is clearly winning it.

People are always free to improve themselves no one knows that better than myself. I am a product of poverty and now financially secure Briano. BTW A person does not have to be black to know poverty. maybe you should substitute "dependency" for "helping hand in improving peoples quality of life". The poverty in the Afro-American and Latino communities are an indictment of a failed system not of a failed ethnic group. BTW to accuse ethnic groups (or myself) of "aiming low" is either a cheap shot or a racist statement take your pick.

Seano its time for your medication. Again with the class warfare and jealousy to divide fellow citizens. Being American means you are not limited to your current situation. Free people are free to rise above, conquer, and achieve their goals. The short sighted mindset of dependency has destroyed the black family and has it's eye on everyone else. Dependency, sentencing many to lives of nothingness, really sad. Good work to you and yours seano, aim low and submit to government. I prefer to be free.

ye of little faith ancakver if Australia can do it why not the richest country in the world. "beaten before you start" ancakver. Obama an do it if the party of no would act like American patriots. But they would rather wreck the economy for short term gain that is "get Obama at all costs" even if it means long dole queues. The GOP are traitors to the American middle class.

sean: Shows how little you know about the U.S. The unemployment rate is never going to get below 6% again.

seano check your facts, what are the net losses or gains in jobs? I believe obama has been in office for four years now plenty of time to fix problems if his way of doing things were feasable. Obama's way of running up debt with QE1,2,3, adding mandates, appointing czars to increase regulation only retards the capitalist engine that is America. This non recovery, recovery will limp along until the bills come due, then nosedive, unless someone provides the atmosphere of growth and discipline. Ford didn't take the bribe, Gm hasn't paid back the money to taxpayers so they are still in debt, past there means to repay. The car industry should brace themselves for stiff competition as the Japanese are back online post tsunami.

Briano Bush left Obama a financial crisis and the unemployment rate soared..For the last two years 5million jobs have been created. He saved the car industry which the GOP vilified him for doing so. If Obama wins a second term the rate could very well be under 6% in 12 months. The GOP are shocked by the fall in the rate and all they can do is whine, just like howareya who is a failed democrat.

Obama's bedtime fairy story. It was suddenly announced just after his disastrous failed debate...how convenient!
We are not stupid enough to believe this.

Yep, they don't count the massive amounts of people that are working "part time" or have dropped off the unemployment rolls because they have exhausted their benefits. Just like they counted the number of illegals they deported twice! Just like they counted the number of "green" jobs they created by counting jobs that were already being done but now are considered "green." AND I am NOT a Republican. I am a registered life long Democrat and am changing my affiliation to Undeclared! Not crazy about Mitt but I would prefer to have someone in the White House that is successful in business than one who has no experience and has not helped the nation in the past 4 years but keeps blaming Bush. He had a lot to be blamed for but it is time to take responsibility! AND the things that really anger me...passing the Dream Act in his sneeky little way, bypassing Congress...doing the same when the Senate refused to confirm his nominations to the National Labor Relations Board, he proclaimed the Senate was in recess and appointed them on his own. Why are these issues not more of a concern to people???

seano -since the bush era, 7.8 was the highest the unemployment ever got during the bush era, 7.8 is the lowest the unemployment rate has been during the obama regime. There is a big difference. The man is a failure in helping America prosper, a success in weakening America for her enemies to attack.

Cahir: First of all 114k is a dismal number, we should be creating a minimum of 250k a month just to keep up with population growth. Second many of the jobs were part time. Third many of the full time jobs were in the low wage, no benefit service area. This is a dismal recovery; the facts are the facts.

Ah hollaback, someday I hope you achieve your dream of living in a total dictatorship, free from decisions or choices, but I would prefer it not be America. Maybe you could join forces with the CHE Galway crowd and hand over Ireland to the next castro, then Ireland would truly be free from freedom, and you could live in bondage, happy.
