If you want the Republican Party nomination nowadays, you better be prepared to throw tens of thousands under the bus.
Just pick your minority carefully: Latino's, gays, immigrants, Muslims, single parents - the list goes on.
This week's contestant is Donald Trump. His gold plated "I'm an ostentatious businessman" shtick plays well in the midwest, as does his newly minted campaign platform of throwing gay and lesbian families under the bus, most likely excluding them from health care and marriage.
Trump believes gay couples and their families shouldn't have access to the same health care as families headed by straight parents.
Asked if same-sex couples should have the same medical and civil benefits as straight couples, Trump replied, "As of this moment, I would say no and no."
No and no. There's nothing like denying Americans basic equality to gain some public attention for your political candidacy.
And Trump, who has married three times, had this to say about marriage equality for gays:
"I'm not in favor of gay marriage. They should not be able to marry. I just don't feel good about it. I don't feel right about it. I'm against it… I'm opposed to gay marriage."
Pardon me, Donald - but I don't feel good about overexposed blowhards giving their opinion on matters that will never concern them, but that doesn't mean I want to strip them of their civil rights.
Just what kind of message is Trump sending to the estimated one million gay couples who are raising approximately two million children in the United States?
That they shouldn't be treated equally because he doesn't like them? I bet he'd be happy enough to take their money at any one of his properties, so perhaps they should reconsider that until he affords them the same dignity and respect as all loving couples and families.
Perhaps all Donald needs is a little reciprocation. If he learns what it feels like to be thrown under the bus himself, if he feels the burn, I bet he'll be less likely to indulge himself in the future.
So, with that in mind, if you're gay or if you just love someone who is you could consider Trump's decision to stand against LGBT families when you're deciding whether or not to patronize a Trump establishment (or watch a Donald Trump TV show) like any of the following:
In New York:
Trump World Tower Trump Tower Trump Plaza 40 Wall Street 1290 Avenue of the Americas West Side development
Trump Park Ave. (Delmonico Hotel)
Trump International Hotel The Residences at Trump National in Westchester County
Elsewhere:
Bank of America Center, San Francisco Trump Entertainment (casinos) (Atlantic City) Trump Las Vegas Mar-a-Lago (Palm Beach, FL) Trump Chicago Miami Beach Hotel/Trump International Beach Resort (Miami, FL)
Golf Courses:
Trump International Golf Club, Raffles Resort (Canouan Island, The Grenadines) Trump National Golf Club, Bedminster (Bedminster, NJ) Trump National Golf Club, Los Angeles (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) Trump International Golf Club (West Palm Beach, FL)
On TV:
The Apprentice (and various spinoffs) Miss Universe / Miss USA Pageants
Fox and Friends (Fox News)

MM Leprechaun and PhlutiePhan are BOTH wrong! In the Hebrew Testament God gave Moses the 10 Commandments. In the Christian Testament, God gave us Jesus who gave us the two basic Commandments: Love God, etc. and Love each other as we love ourselves! It IS ALL about love, just as was the life of Jesus!

Trump, i my sincere opinion is the absolute epitome of White Trash! And John5319 where did you study the Constitution which states: "...ALL men(people) are endowed by the Creator with certain unalienable rights including life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."? Good Grief. You probably do the same thing with the Bible!

Most of the responses here convince me that Trump only appeals to the most condescending, hateful and divisive people in America.

Trump is right about several things, but is not president material. Don't throw anybody under the bus, this article title is hateful.

Denying gay people their civil rights because you always have in the past is over. It's no arguement. It's stupid. It's done.

CORRECTION PHLUTIEPHAN...the Holy Roman Catholic Church has not changed the Laws of God so, therefore, does not espouse gay priests and liberation theology. You are way off base...learn the Truth before you speak. Yes, the Church has suffered through many problems but God's laws have not changed.

Here's the "jive". The good ol' US of A is not a "democracy". It is a "republic" or more specifically a representative democracy. A republic has certain standards that a democracy does not. Greece was a democracy but only among males. There are religious groups in America against "gay marriage". They seem to accept civil unions. The democractic party is going further and further to the left. What was once the party of a centrist John Kennedy is now parallel to the beliefs of Castro. It is obvious that "greedy interests" in the Republican Party are taking advantage of this turmoil much like what Richard Nixon was accused. This all dovetails with the liberalization of the Catholic Church and its sudden espousal of gay priests and liberation theology.

No matter if you agree with 'gay-marriage' or not, what does that have to do with health care? Maybe he's one of those who are under the delusion that HIV is a 'gay problem'. I've been married for 40 years but had brain surgery almost 30 years ago. Been tested 3Xs for HIV because I was given several pints of blood. HIV is a world problem that is no respecter of gender preference, just like flu and cancer.

There is no such thing as a "Gay/Lesbian" marriage. Biologically it is impossible. When God created man and woman, He created them to fit perfectly with each other...you do understand that, I assume. As for calling them a family...no such thing. The 2 people may be providing a child or children with the necessities of life but not with a stable home life or life style or the proper moral values. 2 men cannot do, 2 women cannot do it. In this case I support Donald Trump's position.

Cahir, please grow up and stop hating EVERYONE who does not agree with you precisely and exactly - just what you accuse the "other side" of doing. In that way you are identical to the radical fundamentalist Muslims and Christians who believe that practicing anything that in the slightest way varies from their narrow definitions damns you forever. You have fallen for the liberal press effort to create a Republican "candidate" that will guarantee an Obama (God help us!) reelection. It is amazing that you are really so uninformed and able to function in the real world. Keep waiting for your Marxist paradise.

Yes well said Cahir. Trump is arrogant and of course everyone is entitled to their opinion about whether they actively support gay marriage or not but don't deprive others of legal rights because you don't ethically favor something. My mother is a die hard Catholic but voted for divorce in the Irish referendum because she felt it should be available for those who might need it. Best thing is to ignore Donald Trump. He will go away when he doesn't have a book/show/hotel to sell!

Pat Jackson, you are obviously an angry, angry, straight man, whose logical thinking skills are down there w an 6 yr olds. Perhaps we should discuss nullifying your marriage because you are stupid and your wife is ugly. Thats my opinion. Should i be able to decide whether the two of you should continue your disgusting union? Not really my place to say is it? No matter how stupid, or ugly I think you are. Trump can say whatever he wants, but infringing on personal rights is just plain UNAMERICAN, so re-read your history, and please dont have any children.
