President Barack Obama, US Defender in Chief
By: Cahir O'Doherty | Published Tuesday, November 1, 2011, 7:13 PM | Updated Tuesday, November 1, 2011, 7:13 PM
I think now would be an appropriate time to say thank you to President Barack Obama.
In comparison to his immediate predecessor his success in bringing the world's most wanted terrorists and dictators to justice has been nothing short of remarkable.
In fact the contrast speaks for itself.
Recall that George W. Bush launched a war with Iraq that cost us one trillion dollars and thousands of US lives. Obama launched an offensive against Qaddafi that cost one billion dollars and lost no US lives.
And for once the Arab would is thanking us by dancing in the streets rather than on our nation's flag.
Obama has rid the world of the scourge of Osama bin Laden, Anwar al-Awlaki and Moammar Qaddafi. And all of this was accomplished within six months: if Obama were a Republican, they'd be commissioning bronze statues by now.
You know they won't say it now or ever, so let's say it for them: thank you President Obama for making the world and the United States safer.

Now it's time to take out the Republican Terrorists who'd rather kill the economy simply to ensure that BO is a one-term prez.

Peterson keep quiet you do not have a clue. The muslim brotherhood is one of Egypts political parties.Your understanding of middle eastern politics is naieve and incorrect.
peterson | Oct 23, 2011, 09:03 PM EDT
The Muslim Brotherhood will take over Libya just like they are doing in Egypt and the rest of the Islamic countries in the middle east. Obama is such a glory hound.
peterson | Oct 23, 2011, 09:00 PM EDT
Someone will have to clean up obama's mess whiich is worse than what the Republicans left.
peterson | Oct 23, 2011, 08:57 PM EDT
He is a paper tiger. The Muslim Brotherhood is taking over Egypt and will take over Libya as well and the rest of the Islamic countries. He has had a U.S. postage stamp made honoring the Muslim faith. I have seen it !! Some guy !!

Young angus I am a common man It's not the trailer park that's the problem. It's the common man/woman who live in these parks that do not realise that the good old party of no want to leave them their and make their rich buddies richer.

Cahir, let me guess. You've got a blow-up doll of Odumbo that you go down on regularly.

Barack Obama campaigned as the "Peace candidate" in 2008, but President Obama has escalated the endless War in Afghanistan, extended it into Pakistan, ramped up the Drone war, ratcheted up sanctions on Iran, kept Guantanamo up and running, and appears before the world completely impotent and spineless on Israel-Palestine after a promising start. There is, I suppose, an obvious domestic payoff to this approach: by tilting so heavily to the right-wing, neocon status quo, he's pretty much taken foreign policy off the table in the 2012 campaign. The GOP candidates can carp in various ways, but there's very little difference between their views and his policies.
jamthecat | Oct 21, 2011, 11:06 PM EDT
I'm no fan of "O" but the wailing and gnashing of teeth by the right wing and their refusal to even consider giving him credit for ANYTHING is becoming comical. I'm shaking my head in laughter at the snarling comments from the Tea freaks and the GOPissants. Talk about pathetic. And Katiemac, if Obama is what you call pro-gay, you must think Maggie Gallagher is a leftie out to make homosexuality acceptable; the very thought reveals total insanity on your part.

Thank you Cahir! I am a veteran of WW11 & the Korean War. I am glad that Obama has decided to withdraw American troop from Iraq because anybody with even normal intelligence can see it is a political step by him because of his 43% popularity. I have been talking to many veterans who served over in Iraq & Afghanistan and dispise this man. Have you heard that now at Veterans funerals when the U.S. flaq is offered to the closet relative it is now presented to them from the Secretary of Defense instead of the President? O how much Obama loves our Military veterans or even the ones serving today.

Really are you pulling my leg. Defender in chief lol!!!! He has no respect for the history and traditions that made this country once great.
AengusOg | Oct 21, 2011, 06:39 PM EDT
@seanomelbourne Trailer park? Are you the bankers' toady, looking down on the less fortunate? Your liberal sense of superiority and contempt for the common man is showing. Actually, if you ever attended a Tea Party meeting you would find the people there much like yourself, not quite as intelligent, of course, and a bit less caring, but basically much the same.
seanomelbourne | Oct 21, 2011, 04:36 PM EDT
The teahadists will never give Obama the credit he deserves. The GOP is driven by hate and racism they are more interested in how many guns they own,God,homophobia or other people's right to pregnancy termination. What an inbred lot they are they need to leave their trailer parks and have a good look around.

Mr. O'Doherty...take your head out of the sand or wherever else it may be at this moment...BOB is a disgrace in so many areas that it would take a whole column plus to list them. This is the greatest Country in the world and as long as he sits in the Oval Office only God Himself can save us for BOB is personally dedicated to destroying the same Country that his church minister, Mr. Wright, asked God to damn...forgotten? Please look at ALL the facts. Thank you.
Nicomax | Oct 21, 2011, 12:46 PM EDT
If some argue BHO had nothing at all to do with the elimination of many known terrorists, then we could equally state that Bush had nothing to do with the invasion of Iraq. But when you think about it, it's quite possible he had little to do with it other than implement the plan placed on his desk by the Wyoming Wizard.
hollabackgurl | Oct 21, 2011, 12:14 PM EDT
No we're giving Obama credit for effective decision making and mature military leadership. A thing that has been notably lacking in the last decade.
joycean | Oct 21, 2011, 11:55 AM EDT
I think you are giving Obama credit for the development of drone, which is not exactly accurate. He isn't a scientist or engineer, the people who have been working on the technology. In 2001, the technology was in a much cruder state of development. If we had the technology that we have now, we could have done a better job of assessing Sadaam's WMD, locating his whereabouts, and capturing or killing him, at a cost of far fewer lives and dollars. Realistically, the military has been using the equipment, locating targets, and and asking Obama to okay the strikes, which he has been doing, to his credit.
bunkerisland | Oct 21, 2011, 11:41 AM EDT
The man will get little credit for anything and lots of blame for the 8 years of madness left by the GWB admin. He is called a leftist, Marxist, Socialist and Muslim. Hard to imagine how such 3 year long criticisms can be overcome with this volume of hatred and racism.
cillowen | Oct 21, 2011, 11:34 AM EDT
no prez in history has had to clean up such a mess left by the re repugs and their demorats fiends..
hollabackgurl | Oct 21, 2011, 11:20 AM EDT
It's good to have on record now that you and the Republican party are anti-gay, katiemac. It wasn't Obama that spent trillions America could not afford on two disastrous wars; in fact he has saved the American economy from them. It wasn't Obama who gave the rich historic tax cuts that they hoarded, refusing to pay their fair share or create new jobs for a decade, it was Bush. And it wasn't Bush it was Obama who caught Osama bin Laden, Anwar al-Awlaki and Moammar Qaddafi.
shamrock99 | Oct 21, 2011, 10:35 AM EDT
What nonsence! Obama had absolutely nothing to do with the events so noted in your article.
AengusOg | Oct 21, 2011, 10:23 AM EDT
Politics abhors a vacuum. Are we looking at another piece in the unification of the Islamic Middle east? I guess Syria is next.
JohnKinMD | Oct 21, 2011, 10:22 AM EDT
If it was up to him and all you leftest, we would not have a strong army and navy.
hollabackgurl | Oct 21, 2011, 09:36 AM EDT
Teahadists can't deny his military leadership or effectiveness and they're clawing themselves with envy over it. The comments below prove it.
