Politicians and protestors condemn U.S. Muslims

It's the question of our age: can you claim to love America whilst stomping on every ideal that created it?

I have to warn you, this story is disturbing. At a recent fundraiser for for the homeless held by the Orange County chapter of the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) several hundred Tea Party members and other protestors showed up to heckle the participants.

The public have every right to protest organizations and groups they don't like, but this protest quickly descended into scenes of jaw-dropping ugliness. The presence of small children did nothing to curb the chants being directed at their parents.

Some Republican politicians also showed up, including a member of Congress, to denounce, often in the most shocking terms, what was after all a peaceful and well-intentioned fundraiser held by their fellow United States citizens.

"We are one nation under God, not Allah," shouted one of the Orange County protestors . "Get out of here," she added, blissfully unaware the people she was shouting at were born and raised in the same California county as herself.

To this woman Muslims (all Muslims) are generally responsible for 9/11, and it wasn't a fundraiser in aid of worthy causes, it was jihadist training camp.

"You beat your women?" shouted one protestor. "You rape your children?" she continued, "why don't you go beat up your wife like you do every night?"

"They call it multiculturalism and it has paralyzed too many of our fellow citizens to make the critical judgments we need to make to prosper as a society," says Republican Congressman Ed Royce. No need for PC niceties, I suppose, when there's ~those~ people to fret over.

It's not hard to figure out where all the heat is coming from. Glen Beck challenged the first ever Muslim congressman in November to prove he was not working with our enemies.

Next week the House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Peter King is scheduled to convene a Congressional hearing to investigate, wait for it, what he bills the 'loyalty and radicalization' of American Muslims. I very much hope King will remember that loyalty and radicalization is now, thanks in part to bluntly reactionary efforts like his own, very much a two way street in the USA.

If anyone tells you the Tea Party's agenda is purely fiscal, show them this:

clancy4unc has hit the nail on the head about what is happening in the USA with the Muslims. I have used this same analogy about the frog being slowly boiled in the pot and not realizing it until it's too late. Muslims DO NOT WANT TO ASSIMILATE! WAKE UP! THEY WANT Our Country and US (the American people) DEAD!

Watching that video made me sick to my stomach. It's hard to believe that people can have that much hate in them. Those poor people who had to be subjected to such hatred. I hope they know that most Americans don't feel that way about them. Boy, did it ever remind me of what was done to the first African Americans who intergrated white schools. Those protesters should be ashamed of themselves.

You know what did happen in Ireland? School children were verbally harassed by adults on their way to the Holy Cross School in Belfast and it was as disgusting to witness then as this is now. Either America is better than this or we're just as bad.

There are many muslims themselves warning us about the muslim community that does not change their way of life. They bring to america, complete coverup of females, complete obediance to males, wives and daughters that can and have been killed for not following the rules of Islam. They remain true to their customs and faith, which we know is not the laws of the US.

Mr. O'Doherty, I don't condone this but I understand it. It's so easy for you to be critical of Americans. Sept. 11 didn't happen in Ireland. Ireland doesn't have the number of Islamic terrorists, plotting every day to kill as many innocent citizens as possible, like the U.S. does. Maybe if Muslims in Am. were more vocally outraged in regard to terrorist incidents in the U.S., they might be viewed differently. Instead, they demand all the rights, and more, that America affords them and show little or no support for Americans or any interest in American culture. Some of them consider Americans to be nothing but Christian infidels that deserve to be killed or they believe all Americans should be converted to Islam. They may be a small minority, but there are enough of them to make Americans feel very uneasy. Achieving a better relationship between the Muslim & Christian community is a 2-way street. The Muslim community in the U.S. rightly deserves their fair share of criticism that I don't see on IC.

That video and a couple comments below make me ashamed to say that I'm an American. Especially appalling are the comments by the elected officials, who, instead of using the opportunity to foster understanding of other cultures and to educate their constituents about the meaning of "freedom of religion," simply pander to the prejudices, fears, and hate of the protesters. Appalling. And remitromjr, your post is illogical, filled with gibberish, and obviously the work of a troubled mind. You begin by saying that "ALL Muslims" believe in Shariah law--that's simply not true. Then you say, "US (and Canadian) Muslims have perpetrated . . ." but you go on to give examples from various countries throughout the world AND religions other than Islam. It's the same tactic Glenn Beck and Rush use: sleight of hand, bait and switch, whatever you want to call it. I'd rather have those California Muslims as my neighbors than you, thank you very much.

I simply have two things to say: First and foremost to the women in the tape who can't read this but it must be said for all who agree with her, let me quote to you Shakespeare: What's in a name? that which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet; So whether you say Allah, God, Khoda, Dieu, Elohim, Bojh, etc. its all the same. Secondly, to all those who find themselves experts in Sharia law need to know the following. Sharia is a complex code of laws which is not as simple as reading one hadith or one Ayah from one Surah because multiple elements must be combined to reach an answer. So to make broad generalizing statements without comprehension is a mistake to be said in short. There are individuals whom dedicate their whole lives to the study of religions and those individuals if asked would honestly state that they are still learning. You can't learn all there is about a religion from a three hour lecture.

Sickening. All these protestors should be ashamed of themselves. THEY should be removed. Can't imagine having any of these nutjobs in power. Holy cow, "one nation under God," - ask yourselves, what would Jesus do you bloody hypocrites. I'm appalled.
