National Organization For Marriage Sought To Divide Blacks, Gays, Latinos

Yesterday was another bad day for the National Organization for Marriage (NOM). Secret memos the organization had fought to contain were released after the groups unsuccessful attempt to sidestep Maine's financial disclosure laws.

According to court documents, which were posted to the internet yesterday, NOM worked strategically to drive a wedge between the black and gay community in regard to same sex marriage.

"The strategic goal of this project is to drive a wedge between gays and blacks," the released document revealed, shockingly.

'We aim to find, equip, energize and connect African American spokespeople for marriage; to develop a media campaign around their objections to gay marriage as a civil right; and to provoke the gay marriage base into responding by denouncing these spokesmen and women as bigots. No politician wants to take up and push an issue that splits the base of the party.'

Note how they plan to bait the gay community into a divide and conquer battle with the black community. Since both are key Democratic constituencies there are multiple benefits for keeping them at each others throats, NOM suggests. For an organization that prides itself on its christian principals you'll be hard pressed to find any compassion or charity in those starkly political and racial objectives.

NOM did not confine their hateful bait and switch strategy to the black and gay community however, they also contrived to convince Latino voters that a deep anti-gay animus would be an important 'symbol of resistance to inappropriate assimilation.'

In other words, they wanted to portray homosexuality as an icky life choice indulged in by white people, a choice completely at variance with the traditions and aspirations of Latino's. (Christian evangelicals have had a great deal of success with this white man's perversion strategy in Africa in recent years).

Personally I haven't seen something so disgusting, so immoral, so anti-American and plain hateful in years.

Since NOM was stupid enough to put their racially divisive objectives into writing they deserved to be hooted at for the bigots they have shown themselves to be.

And how is this protecting families or marriages exactly? Wouldn't it be more truthful to say NOM's real objective is to divide Democratic constituencies in the most cynical way possible? Pitting American's against Americans, inciting them with divisive rhetoric, then claiming it doesn't 'hate' anyone as it watches the bonfire it set catch?

NOM wants to further its antigay agenda by playing to the worst in all of us. Thank God they're losing by the day.

Meanwhile NOM bills itself as a grassroots organization however upon it is understood it is dependent upon large contributions from a small pool of big-money, mostly anonymous donors. Since its inception it has fought tooth and nail to avoid disclosing the names of donors specifically.

Political leaders, including Republicans, have called for a federal investigation into their donors and activities, and perhaps now they'll have sufficient impetus - and outrage - to begin the job.

"any coupling that comes along" Gearoid4?? That sounds snide. A half-century ago, traditional marriage was "the premier source of security and fulfillment for children but now it's well understood configuration is under threat." It's "under threat" certainly, but not from gay marriages! Close to half the children being born today in the USA and in Ireland are born to unmarried women. The single moms who will raise those children know that "traditional marriage" is no longer a reliable, stable environment for child rearing, as divorce and abandonment statistics show. Some of those women must put their babies up for adoption, and you should thank God there will be gay couples among others willing to raise adopted children in loving homes. If we add in the number of childless couples, the traditional nuclear family with children is a minority configuration. It makes no sense to consider a minority configuration definitive of "family."

To me the most striking detail was that NOM had budgeted $120,000 for a project to locate children of gay households willing to denounce their parents on camera. Whenever I hear NOM described as 'pro-family' from now on, I will think of that fact.

Regarding black opposition to same-sex marriage, it was African-American voters in Calif. who played the greatest role in defeating that state's referendum on gay marriage. A staunch advocate of traditional marriage is Alveda King, a niece of the famous Cival Rights leader, but her views are seldom mentioned by most of media, including the Catholic press. Alveda is also strongly pro-life and that makes her even more objectionable to Liberals and Leftists.

Marriage is not a universal right to be granted to any coupling that comes along. It has always been recognized as the blessed union between a man and a woman and open to procreation by countless societies across the centuries. It pre-existed before the advent of states in Europe and North America and ill-thought out attempts to redefine this age-old institution will render it's true worth redundant through future generation. It has traditionally been the premier source of security and fulfillment for children but now it's well understood configuration is under threat.

How embarrassing for NOM. Now soon more and more of the USA will know that no low was too low for NOM to stoop to including shameless race-baiting on NOM's part, etc. Seems NOM's years are numbered as both their shady, vile and sometimes even law-breaking tactics are brought to light and their defeats pile up as Americans around the USA gradually shift over the years toward more acceptance of marriage equality and/or civil unions for US same-sex couples. Repeal of marriage equality in New Hampshire was soundly defeated by a wide margin with both Republicans and Democrats in the NH statehouse voting NO to repeal. And now in March, 2012, marriage equality in both Washington State and Maryland even with the shadow of repeal petition gathering hanging over it still more defeats for an increasing desperate NOM.

GREED is one of the major things that undermines civilization. Here's what scares me: not 2 gay men getting married, but suits (CEOs) on Wall Street, CEOs of big banks and AIG, big hedge fund managers, speculators, etc. Men who have too much power, control, and money and destabilize the Am. economy through unethical and often illegal practices.

Conservatives who claim gay people are 'undermining civilization' are a laughing stock. Canada's doing better than us and it has gay marriage. And by the way gay men and women are responsible for a disproportionate number of the greatest works of art in the history of the world. Most gay men I know are more civilized than the straight ones.

I am entertained when people wish to claim that gay people are undermining civilization. It seems heterosexuals (who run the majority of government and major business) are messing up this world just fine without us. Get a clue what's really causing problems, and I'll tell you it's not the two men walking down the street holding hands that creates the hate that causes us to be mean to each other, start wars, continue to trash our environment, continue to operate with a dysfunctional economy and so on.

The "Gay rights agenda" has already succeeded in dividing the nation by creating a new classification of people defined by their sexual orientation, something that would be totally foreign to any society or civilization in recorded history, with few anomalies. The vast majority of blacks and Hispanics are Christian and hold to the teachings of Christ as recorded in Sacred Scripture and Tradition. This is a bogus argument to advance what has always been held as a disordered pathos.

You mean, discounting the homosexual agenda playbook to undermine the basis for civilization by 'equating' their behavior? Or, perhaps, that the black leadership never misses an opportunity to play the race card, but has abandoned their community in the moral sphere (note: 45-50% abortion rate).
