Mitt Romney doesn't know where all his foreign investments are

I'm honestly starting to wonder if Mitt Romney will concede the election before election night. Is he finally seeing what the nation sees? The negatives about him, as they in Washington, are so pronounced.

Yesterday, facing relentless criticism from the Obama camp about his offshore investments, Romney spluttered that they are managed by a blind trust and he has no knowledge of their whereabouts.

Really? If you owned untold millions in investments abroad wouldn't you want to know where they were and how they were performing? Wouldn't you want to have their telephone number at least so you could cal them up if you were feeling anxious?

Imagine being so mind numbingly rich that you don't even have to trouble yourself worrying with those details. No wonder Romney's own conservative chums winced so much when he was photographed jet-sking at his private summer mansion last week.

'I don’t manage them,' Romney told Radio Iowa's O. Kay Henderson, referring to his foreign investments. 'I don’t even know where they are. That trustee follows all U.S. laws. All the taxes are paid, as appropriate. All of them have been reported to the government. There’s nothing hidden there.'

Move along.

Except the portrait that's emerging of Romney is of a human weather vane who will turn with every political wind that blows. Another portrait is of a man so rich and so cossetted that he need never concern himself about where his untold millions are stuffed. Imagine being so rich you don't need wonder where the money that makes you rich actually is? This is the man who feels the pain of America's middle class?

Voters are unenthusiastic about him polls say, and he looks decidedly unenthusiastic himself. Even Republican House Speaker John Boehner said recently that voters 'probably aren’t going to fall in love' with him, adding that only 'some friends, relatives and Mormons' have his back.

Ouch.

I'm not even sure at this point why Mitt Romney wants to be president. I mean, I suppose for the access to all that power, that must be attractive to him, but when I look a him I still strongly get the feeling his heart just isn't in it.

Looking at him, I get the inescapable feeling that his best days are probably all behind him. Like a lot of men from his generation I believe he was probably happiest in the days when he could lead a bunch of bullying frat boys into the unpopular gay kids room and hold him down and humiliate him for life.

In those days you could do things like that safe in the knowledge that kind of treatment would never happen to you. In those days he was a king and he acted like one. I bet he misses those days.

Nowadays I get the feeling that what he really wants, at this stage in his life, is a jet ski vacation and some nice comfy slippers. He has that hangdog look that makes me think he's been put up to this presidential run against his will, he has that look even more than George W. Bush did.

That's why conservative outlets went nuts when those photographs of Romney on his jet ski looking like he was actually enjoying himself for once hit the web.

They told the truth about him, for once. The truth is he's happiest goofing off with his family. I wonder if he knows it himself? I really wonder if he'll throw in the towel before the election even starts?

Signing documents as CEO 2000-2002 is a reality you find hard to accept Michael and calling it a lie is stupid. The documents are visible proof.
@michael, No lying necessary in this Bain red herring, what the left constituets as a lie revolves around three signatures on deal for bain during the time span and SEC documents. The SEC documents were determined to be boiler plate sign off sheets, company produced, the other signatures on three deals were determined to be Romney's in the ending of deals started before the Olympics called him away. The other important fact the left leaves out is all these transactions were on private sector deals, Romney could have stayed on with bain and run the olymoics and joined the circus for that matter. As for the pranks, Romney refutes any gay bashing, admits to involvement in pranks in high school, the person in this reference is conveniently dead so no story coming from him him to deny or confirm story. The man's sister did say that her brother never would have gone along with the victimization story. But the left loves a good story, too bad he wasn't smoking weed, doing coke, harassing and bullying girls, during his college years noe that would make for a good story.
Seanomelb--He should not have lied about his involvement in Bain but in the big scheme of things it is pretty minor. Furthermore, I do not think we should be too concerned about some stupid college pranks he committed 40 years ago. What we should be concerned about is which candidate will implement policies that will get this economy going again and has a track record of getting things done. Obama has failed in this regard and Romney has proven he get things done - Olympics, Bain, and working with Democrats in liberal Massachusetts.
Seano you seem to be flaying about, where are some facts to back up your allegations?
Romney lied about his involvement in Bain Michael and if you are in denial fair enough. He was a one term governor ,tried to take on Ted K and lost a twice failed GOP candidate for POTUS.I suppose stealing a patrolman's uniform and pulling up people pretending to be a cop was a hoot.I bet if a black from the wrong side of the track played a similar joke he would now be a felon and castigating gays was such good fun in college.Sending thousands of workers on the breadline is another one of his attributes.Obama saved the American economy from meltdown and had to make harsh decisions in doing so,the car industry for instance, which the good old GOP derided him for doing so.You can vote for whom you like Michael let's hope your reasoning is sound.
Come on Seanomelb, you can up with something a little more witty than that? I assume you are not in primary school. If you are, you can ignore the first question. If you are not, maybe you can clarify your original post with some attempt at a coherent argument. By the way, if you do not believe me about Obama's economic plan, just re-read his last four State of the Union speeches. And just for the record, I voted for him in 2008, but I will not be doing the same in 2012.
michaelidaho you better leave those Idaho spuds alone there mashing your brain.
Cahir, Everybody tries to obtain the greatest return on their investments. Most people do it through legal means. Romney is no different than anybody else who stays within the law. This is a non-issue except for the blind knuckleheads who support Obama. Obama's economic plan for the past four years: extend unemployment, give more money to "education" so that more people can have useless degrees, and go further into debt "investing" in green energy. Oh yeah, I forgot, and insulate federal buildings.
Oh and as for being dumb (I'll assume you mean unintelligent) you could compare their school records to see who achieved higher marks. You could also see who was recruited by the private sector because of how they achieved.
A brick is solid and dependable, good to set a foundation with. Obama on the other hand, is anything but solid or forthright.
You are right Briano it's not about Bain or sending jobs overseas or offshore accounts. Romney is just dumb with no vision for anyone but the rich.Obama should just state the obvious Romney is as thick as a brick.
Ephraim, lot of maybes in your post, Obama may be seven feet tall, I may like ABBA, any untruth can be speculated on. Don't worry when this conjecture runs its course and the truth comes out your bosses will set forth another deception, as long as your paycheck keeps coming I guess its alright.
Hard to be in control and save the Olympics at the same time, read the reporting of the story when it happened, if you are unwilling to be non partisan then that is disappointing.
Briano 2000,2011 2012 still still the sole owner and CEO!!! and now you're almost a Birther now that's disappointing
Never a birther but always wondered why such an easy document to produce was so hard to obtain, the Hawaiian governor sealed his records and the copy produced was also a little sketchy. AS for Bain and the FELONY charge, another ends justify the means lie that is all too common for this Regime-**From CNN hardly a right wing tool**--[Registered Democrat and Bain official Steve Pagliuca] said "Mitt Romney left Bain Capital in February 1999 to run the Olympics and he has had absolutely no involvement with the management or investment activities of the firm or with any of its portfolio companies since the day of his departure." The three other sources were very consistent with that, Wolf. Now of the four sources, three of them are Democrats. Two of them are active Obama supporters in campaign 2012. They say they were all there at Bain at the time. They said Mitt Romney left pretty quickly. The deal with the Olympics was struck pretty quickly. They said we need you, we need you to come now and all four insisted he left in the middle of February 1999.”
