John Boehner, Weeper of the House

This week we learned that John Boehner, the incoming Speaker of the House, regularly wells up with emotion when he contemplates his up-by-the-seat-of-his-own-pants pursuit of the elusive America Dream.

But things have gotten so bad out there these days that Boehner now point blank refuses to visit American schools. Why? Because they're awful. Because they make you fear for the nations future. Because Boehner worries that kids nowadays won't have the same opportunities he and the men and women of his generation did. Cue waterworks.

He's right in that sense: they won't have the same opportunities he did. Thanks to the GOP's sacred mission to limit the federal governments ability to help them, that is.

Oh, and thanks to the fact that, time after time, Boehner has voted against health insurance for children (multiple times) and against student aid, against equal pay, against money for teachers, against raising the minimum wage, against unemployment benefits, and against science and technology research.

It's enough to make us all weep.

Adding a tax cut for America's richest 1% means that soon, thanks to a ballooning deficit, it will be harder than ever for Americas school children to avail of the same opportunities Boehner did.

And of course, when he becomes Speaker Boehner vows to stand against every political compromise that the Democrats offer in 2011. There will be no compromise. There will be no progress. There will be gridlock, endless gridlock, until the GOP's fortunes (rather than the nation's) improve.

If you want to get verklempt over something you should probably start there.

No, this article isn't liberally biased at all.
Pitt-kid the teaparty failed in the senate your living in a self induced mirage of failure.
The only way the system will right itself is when we clean out of the double talkers. No more compromise/common ground. How do you compromise with poison? Why is it everytime we compromise it costs me more money? It takes away a little more of my freedom? Grows the government a little bigger? Just incrementally the pot of water we are in is reaching the boiling point.
You Progressives can tear him up all you want. Boehner is a RINO. (Republican In Name Only) The Tea Party does not like RINO's. Actually the Tea Party puts RINO's on the same level as Democrats. The Tea Party has ousted RINO's in Primaries. The Tea Party has just weathered it's first general election, and made a good showing. Of course a few RINO's slipped through, but wait until 2012.
Boehner flooding congress with his tears of deceit. "I am just a poor boy so the story it is told" Must find that old album and send it to old "crocodile tears"
He is trying to get your sympathy,(not working either) but he is not as bad as the Congressman Hank Johnson who thinks Guam will tip into the ocean with 8,000 troops....Both sides are pathetic.
This guy is an eyeliner-wearing creep, god only knows the agenda he has in the back of his mind, especially when he's turning on the waterworks. NO to Boehner and the rest of the selfish, self-superior creeps.
Sounds like Boehner is trying to emulate Glenn Beck! It's hard to think of a worse model to base oneself on, except for Sarah Palin, and I don't think Boehner would look good in a dress.
Once upon a time, this country was "run" by conservative Democrats along the lines of Henry "Scoop" Jackson and Stuart Symington. Now, we have two extremes of radical socialism with its aim of taking over the schools and right wing "greed". We need a "cool" set of buttocks in the speaker's chair. Certainly, Nancy P was not it and it now appears that the "grim weeper" is not the answer either.
Cahir, You must be getting lazy! This column is almost a transcript of yesterday's TV program The View where Barbra Walters led Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar in a predictable ultra-liberal rant. Oh, by the way, they were excoriated by Anderson Cooper on CNN last night, and CNN (nor Cooper) is no right-leaning wing-nut as you would characterize Fox News. Real men, something you clearly know nothing about, aren't afraid to show their emotions in public. As to his votes on previous legislation, a "No" vote doesn't denote opposition to the concept; just opposition to the idea that the government, rather than the private sector, is the best means to combat the problem.
Oh, get off it Cahir! Are you a gunslinger/tea person obviously! Or just another far right RRRRRRRR??? I'm passionate about issues but not ugly - just another majority moderate in America wanting to make things better. We tolerate you. So right on the weeper. What an embarrassment - no doubt has emotional issues. As far as I'm concerned he can join Palin in Alaska ...(and stay there" according to a much loved and respected R - Barbara Bush!! And, yes, if Obama was given a chance by all the minority "screamers" we could do some good here but it's going to take more time than 2 years AND working together. Took more years to get us into this mess!!
CAHIR....PLEASE CUT THE CRAP...EVERYONE KNOWS YOU BELIEVE ALL REPUBLICANS ARE BAD AND ALL DEMOCRATS ARE GOOD.....YOU LOVE KENNEDY THE MURDERER, CHARLIE RANGLE THE THIEF, TIMMY GEITNER THE THIEF AND OBAMA THE INCOMPETENT!
Big Money buys more tax breaks. Bless the Republican Way!!!
Yes we only have a heart when we are giving other peoples money away. There is a check mark in the box on your tax return that lets you give the government as much of YOUR money as you want, I suggest you use it to assuage your conscience.
Thank God for Conservatives. They are the only way out of this hole that liberals dug.
