I've written about Cindy Jacobs before, because, well just look at her.
A fundamentalist Christian, she often says the most hateful things you could ever concieve of in that sweet little lady voice of hers.
This week Jacob's is suggesting that God may have killed tens of thousands of men, women and children in Japan with an 9.6 earthquake and a terrifyingly powerful tsunami's after that because the Obama administration repealed Don't Ask, Don't Tell.
I'm mean the connection is obvious, innit? That's right. When gay people are happy God is sad. In fact, the thought that any gay person anywhere ever might some day live a life free from insult and harassment apparently drives God to multiple homicides.
But can people like Cindy Jacobs really be the face of the Christian gospels? I mean to say, when you think about the implications of what's she's saying here (go on, try) what sort of light is she putting God in, really?
Are we to accept that year after year He keeps making the same mistake of creating millions of new gay people all over the world, accidentally leaving Him with - whoops - no choice but to send earthquakes and tsunamis and plagues of frogs the boils of Egypt etc to eradicate them all and to, you know, send a message?
The thing about natural disasters is that they can be attributed to a set of envioromental factor rather than divine metaphors. So wouldn't help us all to be a little more explicit? In fact couldn't He, you know, send us an email maybe?
I for one would be glad of an explanation, one way or the other. Because if Cindy Jacobs is representative of the kind of person He'd prefer to spend eternity with then I really won't feel so bad about missing out on Him or Heaven.
I do not think God caused the Tsunimi You must remember the bible Sodom and Gammorra. Abraham begged God to save Sodom and Gammorra, but God could not do it. God distroyed Sodom and Gammorra. I do not think it is fair showing this lady as being representative of Christians, because you have nuts on both side. As a matter of fact, there are homosexual that believe a certain type of unnature intercourse is normal. They are real wackos.

I have heard a few say that Japan blatantly and defiantly abused and pillaged the wildlife of the sea, and in the end the sea jumped inland and bit them.

I think a mistake was done with nuclear power and there are plants popping up all over the world Everyone wants to believe it will not be a happening at there home town. But my Mom was right human beings will end the world before any meteor or cosmic disaster. Humans are the disaster that God created and always think they know more than God.

It's so uncomplicated being an atheist.

There's not a shade of difference between this woman's convictions and that of the GOP's when it comes to gay people. John McCain and other prominent Republicans swore that the repeal of DADT would be a disaster - in fact, it merely allowed gay troops to serve without threat or insult. The GOP also plans to defend DOMA (which does nothing except discriminate); they attack every non-disrimination employment bill; they oppose marriage equality and even civil unions; they want to throw the foreign born partners of gay American citizens out of the country. If you vote Republican you're voting for Cindy Jacobs.

Massachusetts has offered gay marriage for years without earthquakes or any other calamities. Clearly God is telling us he in favor of gay marriage.

And so the ancient Hawiians would toss a virgin into the volcano to appease the volcano god. Sometimes it simmered down, sometimes it didn't. At least they did not pretend to be Christians.

ROFL, olovely, GOP talking points, huh?? Hardly. Thankfully, most Christians believe that this woman is way out of line, similar to many of the articles written by Cahir!

As a Christian, I am horrified at this woman and her vitriol. She apparently has skipped over the part in the bible that states: God Is Love. She and "Christians" like her are the reason many non-Christians have no desire to know the Lord -- and that is the saddest thing of all.

Cindy Jacobs has a terrific grasp of something and it ain't the Old Testament: it's GOP talking points with a side order of evangelism. It's hilarious to me that people think there's an up or down elevator that will will take you to the afterlife. Why not an escalator? Or a moving walk way? Will the afterlife look like LAX International Airport?

One of the main items you didn't bother to mention is that the Muslim religion won't tolerate homosexuals at all - they are to be killed out of hand. I sincerely believe that Cindy Jacobs is one of those Christians who has a terrific grasp of the Old testament and only the book of Revelations in the New Testament. My understanding of God is that He does things for the long term that we short-term humans can't understand. I relate it to an adult telling a 3 year old not to touch the stove. When the adult leaves the room, a majority of 3 year-olds WILL touch the stove and get burned. The adult didn't explain to the 3 year old why not or explain how to tell if the stove was on, they just said, "Don't touch the stove". I think you would be hard-pressed to find a 3 year old to whom you could explain the "why" of not touching the stove. The difference between God and man is much greater than from a 3 year-old and an adult.
Your last paragraph concerns me - it tells me you are one big-time gambler, gambling Eternity away. If you are right and understanding Christians are wrong - then we have simply lived a good and full life. If the enlightened Christian is right and you're wrong, that down elevator is going to be a real bummer.

well actually japan suffers because they have no children and, thus, grandchildren. As a country they are in a demographic death spiral from which there is no escape. Over half of woman born in the 1970's are childless and 25% of the population is over the age of 65, accounting for the lack of post-tsunami looting activity (a.k.a., "civility", as described by the New York Times). Interesting report by the Economist (February, 2010): over 100 million female fetuses aborted in the last 35 years in Asia. Just curious what the feminist/pro-choice/reproductive rights crowds has to say about that statistic.
