Governor Christie takes state helicopter to son's ballgame

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who has campaigned as a fiscally responsible conservative Republican, is in the headlines this morning for taking a state helicopter to his son's baseball game at an upscale prep school.
Christie, who had a private meeting at the governors mansion on Monday night with Iowa donors trying to persuade him to run for president, arrived at Delbarton prep around 4pm on Tuesday where he was driven from the helicopter about 100 yards to the stands in a black limo with tinted windows.
The governor had no public events on his schedule, so it is unclear why he chose to fly to the game in the $12.5 million dollar helicopter.
Critics have blasted the governor for the expense to the state's taxpayers and have noted he was sending his own son to an expensive private school whilst underfunding the state's public schools.

rpmschevy- Again, I understand that what is going on in Washington is probably the only non-particent thing they do together, but really? Maybe instead of picking at one person stick to the topic.. As for the founding fathers, what was formed and what the country now is are totally different creatures. If we voters want to make a difference we need to stop electing the same old things insist on reform... Stop voting for incumbents. We need to start to pay attention to what they are doing and stop just reacting afterwards...

I am glad your talking yourself into being a moderate chevy.

Hey conorsmom you should have asked rpmschevy is where he found the facts for his accusations of Pelosi misdeeds during her tenure as Speaker of the House. I would like to know his/her sources.
conorsmom | Jun 03, 2011, 11:42 AM EDT
Hey rpmschevy- We are not talking about Pelosi. Why not read the article. Every time a "conservative, fiscally responsible" republican does something repugnant, you don't need to DEFEND them by playing tit-for-tat! We are all aware of the wrong doing of ALL elected officials in the country.. Focus on the fact that Christy is a joke. A blow hard. A bully. Basically a Joke... If the people of Iowa think he is SO WONDERFUL, maybe he should move there!!

Christie's mantra!! "Do as I say not as I do".By the looks of him he should've ridden his son's bicycle to the game.Another right wing hypocrite taking money from the middle class to augment his highbrow life style.
cillowen | Jun 02, 2011, 07:37 PM EDT
did you not see that much fancied fellow waddle off the helicopter - biggest boar ever.
teddybear | Jun 02, 2011, 05:58 PM EDT
The politicians in this country are a JOKE.

Another one who talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk. Fiscal responsibility is for everyone but him. State cut backs and he uses the copter for personal use....a copter for police functions and transportation of trauma patients. Good going Christie. And what, you couldn't walk the 100 or so feet to the game field...had to take a car.
hollabackgurl | Jun 02, 2011, 05:17 PM EDT
Christie should tighten his belt. Oops.
conorsmom | Jun 02, 2011, 03:57 PM EDT
Really jmchrystal?! Are you kidding me! As a NJ taxpayer and parent of a school age child, I can tell you that we Jersey voters are fed up with our PUBLIC school cut backs. Christy is a loud mouth school yard bully who expects the citizens to do as HE says and not as he does. This was a gross miss use of state funds and he should have to repay the money out of his VERY LARGE bank account...
hollabackgurl | Jun 02, 2011, 12:39 PM EDT
Christie had no public schedule on the day he took the helicopter and limo. He had time to take New Jersey transit, frakly.
joanxis | Jun 02, 2011, 12:38 PM EDT
And the limo cost a couple of thousands of dollars an hour.
jmchrystal | Jun 02, 2011, 12:37 PM EDT
Christie is a radical blowhard, but as a Governor and a father, he should be able to use state transportation in order to fill the obligations of both roles. Now, maybe using a copter is a little-over-the-top, but maybe with time restraints and distance to be covered, it was the only way to make it work.

Pelosi did not take her family (and apparently her relatives who aren't family) to Europe on US tax dollars. Christie DID however charter a $12.5 million helicopter and limo to attend his sons ballgame at a fancy prep school.
jdi2269 | Jun 02, 2011, 11:37 AM EDT
HEY DUMBO CAHIR, WHY DON'T YOU WRITE AN ARTICLE ABOUT NACY PELOSI TAKING HER FAMILY, RELATIVES, AND FRIENDS TO EUROPE ON OUR TAX DOLLARS"747 JET"????......OH I FORGOT, SHE IS A DEMOCRAT SO CAHIR WILL IGNORE THIS COMPLETELY!
joma5004 | Jun 02, 2011, 10:25 AM EDT
Christie is a tone of lard. It is amazing that he is even able to walk even a short distance. Vote this pig out of ofice.
Suivness10 | Jun 02, 2011, 10:00 AM EDT
He's wrong in taking the helicopter, period.
hancock | Jun 02, 2011, 09:43 AM EDT
Medicare as we know it is dying under its own weight. Get real you hippies.
hollabackgurl | Jun 01, 2011, 09:01 PM EDT
And he has the nerve to criticize big government? Vomit.
hollabackgurl | Jun 01, 2011, 09:00 PM EDT
Obama doesn't defund state schools to the tune of billions, Christie does and then flies off to his sons fancy prep school in his $12.5 million dollar helicopter (at the tax payers expense).
McNamara31 | Jun 01, 2011, 06:59 PM EDT
Forget about Christie and helicopters or Palin, back in DC the GOP is still trying to "kill" Medicare as we know it, while they "cut" the top wealthiest individual tax rate down to 25 percent from 35 percent. That's what we really should be watching.
jamieLM | Jun 01, 2011, 06:52 PM EDT
Democrats are just as guilty for misusing perks as Republicans. I read that Pelosi is another one who has used taxpayer money to fly to CA on private planes to make personal visits. howareya - you're right about Gore who uses private planes to fly all over the place. Maybe the planes are painted green so he can say he's "going green."
bren2mike1 | Jun 01, 2011, 04:41 PM EDT
Obama also ssends his children to expensive, private schools.
hancock | Jun 01, 2011, 01:15 PM EDT
Its good to be the king. Now Cahir, I know you'll be just as feisty and dogged when Democrats use similar perks. Right?
howareya | Jun 01, 2011, 12:42 PM EDT
Sorry, Hollabackgurl, it is not just the GOP that is guilty of this. Seems to me all politicians have the high opinion that they are above what they preach. For example.... Al Gore, our environment guru who has homes that use mega power and uses private jets to fly to the venues to make speeches about saving the earth! Puleez!!! Wish they all would get a clue!
hollabackgurl | Jun 01, 2011, 11:54 AM EDT
Do as I say, not as I do. That's the GOP all over. Think of how much fuel they wasted just to take off.
