| Fox News - Monica Crowley |
The polite response to the news that someone's become engaged is to offer them your congratulations.
But if you're a Fox News pundit it's apparently just an opportunity to engage in some junior-high level hate speech.
Responding to the news that Sandra Fluke, the woman Rush Limbaugh recently called a 'slut' and a 'prostitute,' has become engaged to her boyfriend, Fox New's Monica Crowley dashed to her Twitter feed yesterday to snipe: 'To a man?'
From first painting Fluke as a nymphomaniac man-eater who wanted America to pay for her birth control, the right are now apparently insinuating she is a lesbian.
Slut, prostitute, lesbian? It's as though the leaders of conservative thought can't get beyond the catch calls and hate speech of junior high.

When challenged by the public for her blatantly homophobic tweet yesterday, Crowley denied she was insinuating that Fluke might be gay. But in what other context can her tweet be understood? Her 'To a man?' crack panders to the worst stereotypes amongst conservatives that any avowed feminist who is nobody's doormat must be a lesbian.
Meanwhile Limbaugh was on another woman-bashing tirade of his own yesterday calling the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton 'just a secretary.' The sexist implications were clear to all. You would think that at this point the leaders of Republican thought would think better of waging the war on women, but instead they continually reload.
Fluke has mopped the floor with every major conservative figure who has attempted to demagogue her. Crowley would have been wiser to keep her junior high level homophobia to herself. Her hateful tweet was beneath her. She should apologize to the nation's LGBT community.

Rush is still on the air. Actually Rush has more listeners, and sponcers then before.
Rush's fans are loyal, and share the same opinion. This site is homoerotic.

hoolaback girl, I believe ed Shultz called laura Ingram a slut, but that's easy to miss due to the lack of outrage from the lame street press. And I believe it was on an actual show, not on a twitter account.

Fluke is an activist, which is fine we all get to state our opinions. the statements attributed to her detractors by the author are presented in a hateful bias way, but to the point miss crowley never used the words; slut, prostitute, lesbian, nymphomaniac, or hate. How did the author know that she "dashed to her twitter feed" like this is the only thing on miss crowleys mind. Let's for a minute be rational, Miss Crowleys comments in my "opinion" since I can not know, probably fell into two camps, 1 being that she truly didn't know if miss fluke was hetro, homo,or bisexual and asked a question, or 2 which I believe is the most likely scenario, she made a joke on twitter. She should know better, when you are on a conservative medium any thing the touchy left can use to rile up their forces with will be usedagainst you.The point to be taken from this is to see how the left infers the meaning of what could be a simple question, assume the worst rile up the masses. Nice job of distracting the masses from understanding which freedom they are taking over today.

BrendanKearns, get some help pal! Your words look like more evidence that Wm Ryan and Richard Ryan's research, reported yesterday in the NY Times as "Homophobic? Maybe You're Gay," is right. The researchers tested subjects for their homophobia or lack of it, as well as for their same-sex and opposite-sex attraction. They conclude "homophobia can result, at least in part, from the suppression of same-sex desire." They found that homophobic people often repress their own homosexuality and "Thus our research suggests that some who oppose homosexuality do tacitly harbor same-sex attraction." The repression sets up an inner struggle that leads to behavior like your all-caps homophobic ranting below.

No matter if you are liberal or conservative,Fox New's Monica Crowley's comment regarding Sandra Fluke's engagement can only be viewed as juvenile. Piling up on Fluke appears to be more bullying from the far right. As always, Fluke handled it professionally which only makes the righties look more ridiculous - if that is possible.

You claim this article 'is obvious in it's hatred' BrianO, but it's notable you don't cite one example. A thing is not so because you say its so. This article, as far as I can see, laments blatant bullying without indulging in it.

what's the difference between a Fox broadcaster and a catfish??? One's a bottom feeder and the other is a fish. Therefore Cowley is a bottom dweller.

The inverse logic of this article is precious. the author uses slurs in a print publication to complain about another medium who makes her remark off the public record on a twitter account. The remark on twitter can be interpreted in different ways depending on how it is read. It could have been read as interpreted by the writer, it could have been a real question, it could have been meant as humorous. The article on the other habd is obvious in it's hatred.

PiperMac52....”Selective outrage” you must be joking. This is not about liberals or conservatives; most informed people don't fit into those tiny boxes. This is about a news organization (News Corp) that gets in bed with political power here and in England and smears and slanders the opposition while hacking the phones of thousands along the way. Most people think that's criminal.

I have yet to hear Lawrence O'Donnell, Ed Shultz, Keith Olberman bash gays with hateful tweets or call women sluts or prostitutes.

Your selective outrage is glaring. Have you ever watched liberal pundits Lawrence O'Donnell, Ed Shultz, Keith Olberman...? Let's just say their is equal hyperbole to go around. Of course those attacks by liberals go unnoticed.

Brendan Kearns I imagine that no mother would be happy to see her daughter form a 'NATTURAL' union with you. In your advanced old age you haven't even learned how to disable the caps lock. You're in no condition to talk to anyone about dysfunction.
