eiremach! he is a failed politician who was booted out of congress and had to pay $300,000 to the house ethics committe for his indiscretions.He was having an affair with his secretary and at the same time calling for the dismissal of clinton over the monica affair.He served divorce papers to his wife whilst she was under going chemo and divorced another wife who had MS and I am pigeon holing him.I am not a U.S. citizen but you yanks like to call POTUS the "leader of the free world".So us non citizens have a stake in who is POTUS and Gringich is a dud.BTW he has no hope of beating Obama,as I said to much baggage.

The bureacrats did not like Newt because of his "Contract with America" cut into their power. The "Taxpayers' Bill of Rights" that used to come with U.S. Tax Forms (now out of plrint) was part of Newt's programme. For being a tough advocate for the people, the establishment had to punish him.

LilPaddy... If, as you stated: BECAUSE, BRAINS AND PAST PERFORMANCE IS WHAT IS NEEDED!!! Maybe you can explain to me why John Huntsman is not at the top of the GOP polls? He has all the qualities you have mentioned, and none of the serial womanizing tendencies and arrogant egomaniac nature of Newt? And also do you remember when the House voted “overwhelmingly” to reprimand Newt as House speaker and ordered him to pay an unprecedented $300,000 penalty. At the time, it was the first time in the 208 year House history to disciplined a speaker for ethical wrongdoing.

Hey all of you (us) dick's of Ireland who want to blackball Newt.... Just think about it; if you were going into business and you needed a partner and you had to choose one among all of the present candidates (including the Moneygall Mick).. Newt would get a 99% nod..... BECAUSE, BRAINS AND PAST PERFORMANCE IS WHAT IS NEEDED!!! And who/what he has done with his d**k in the past..... Means S**t..

Go back in time to 1995-1996 when Gingrich was Speaker of the House and read how he blocked a bi-partisan commission's effort to get the House to pass a manditory E-Verify employee verification system. Just think, we could have had manditory E-Verify 15-years ago if Gingrich had not blocked the commission's efforts. .

Gingrich is a very viable candidate. This mud sling is a desperate attempt by the liberals to discredit him. One can find dirt on most politicians. Just look at the personal history of obumma's oppointees and his own convenient lack of his personal history !!

Hi, many people in the US like Newt. He is conservative, but Romney is to much like the democrates. We'll see. Any one is better than Obama. One of these days the liberal press will print the truth about him and everyone will be shocked.

Thank you for Mr Doherty for showing us , once again, the self-righteous and hypocritical nature of politicians. I care not who becomes President of the USA but Americans' capacity for indignation is staggering. The moralizing and preaching and finger pointing is usually prequel to revelations about the finger-pointers themselves. Whatever else can be said about Gingrich, however, he is certainly a lot brighter and more clued in than the other republican candidates. They say a country gets the government it deserves - it seems that way yet again.
