Bubble bubble Christine O'Donnell's in trouble
By: Cahir O'Doherty | Published Monday, September 20, 2010, 8:50 AM | Updated Friday, September 9, 2011, 9:50 PM

Thanks to the Tea Party, we now have a Republican primary winner who has practiced witchcraft.
Christine O'Donnell, 41, was scheduled to appear on
Fox News Sunday yesterday morning, but when the story broke she had once participated in rituals on a Satanic alter, naturally enough she cancelled all her previous obligations.
Video clips from the
Bill Maher show informed the bemused American public that O'Donnell, by her own admission, 'dabbled in witchcraft'.
'One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar, and I didn’t know it,' she said. 'I mean, there’s a little blood there and stuff like that. We went to a movie and then we had a little midnight picnic on a satanic altar.'
Oh I admit it, I've seen some really strange stuff in American political life (Larry Craig's wide-stance, Rudy Giuliani's cross-dressing, not to mention kooky
Rand Paul and his 'Aqua Bhudda' - all of these come unbidden to my mind, I'm afraid) but this is the first time I recall a conservative candidate who was once a witch.
In
Delaware I imagine there are a lot of churchgoing people who are going to want to know what on earth O'Donnell was doing. And I admit to a little curiosity myself. I mean I enjoy a train wreck as much as anyone.
Remember, this is the woman who has spent two decades espousing celibacy and condemning homosexuality, masturbation and condom usage. Asked by MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, 'You’re going to stop the whole country from having sex?' O’Donnell replied, 'Yes.' [Scarborough Country, 11/13/03]
Good luck with that Christine.
We haven't even gotten to the part where a bipartisan watchdog group claims the Tea Partier abused campaign funds for her personal use and made false statements on forms she filed with the Federal Elections Commission.
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in
Washington (CREW) filed a complaint to the US Attorney's office in Delaware and the Federal Elections Commission alleging that O'Donnell illegally spent more than $20 thousand in 2009 and 2010.
Much of these campaign expenses were made in 2009, when O'Donnell wasn't a candidate for anything. Representatives for O'Donnell could not, as they say, be reached for comment.
The Tea Party was intended to shake things up, but it's just ended up stiring the cauldron.

hollowbutt... a straight female who doesn't play with herself pisses you off, admit it. Stop the infatuation.

She'll be spending even more of her campaign money on her rent again in December.

Lad? Unsportsmanlike conduct, you are fined 2 strokes.

seanomelbourne You are a very perverted individual who has taken the whole subject matter of this posted story into ugly territory. Why would you even say something like that? I didn't attack your initial comments...
seanomelbourne | Sep 24, 2010, 07:27 PM EDT
Well! you should know where to put the top piece as for the bottom piece I'll leave that to your imagination

seanomelbourne How many parts are there to a broomstick?
seanomelbourne | Sep 22, 2010, 07:18 PM EDT
What part of broomstick do you not understand Felicia. Your Chrissie is a right wing religious freak. Her political savvy is as thin as a slice of baloney and just as relevant.
Felicia | Sep 22, 2010, 09:34 AM EDT
seanomelbourne Do you walk to work or carry your lunch?? You don't make any sense by your comment.
IrishAndProud | Sep 22, 2010, 03:35 AM EDT
Look who's on a witch hunt, now -- the irrelevant left.
seanomelbourne | Sep 22, 2010, 12:50 AM EDT
Whose pulling your leg Felicia, have you and Chrissie got matching brooms?
Felicia | Sep 22, 2010, 12:22 AM EDT
She was in high school during this witchcraft phase for crying out loud. Look at all the vampire crap the kids are into now. Are they going to bring that up when one of these kids who are into this runs for office? And why wasn't Obama's cocaine and marijuana use all over the media, oh that's right they are all left leaning, thrill up my leg liberal sheep.
seanomelbourne | Sep 21, 2010, 07:06 PM EDT
WE have another whinger to add to the "save Christine Association" She's a "dullard" listen to what she has to say about gays and the unemployed and she is a bludger herself.
SouthBendNative | Sep 21, 2010, 06:19 PM EDT
Another liberal circle jerk. You dopes think that O'Donnell is dangerous? Have you paid attention to the magic Obama has conjured up? Holy Cow, you lefies are daft.
hollabackgurl | Sep 21, 2010, 12:46 PM EDT
She's a nut. Witchcraft isn't a typical qualification for the United States Senate. She can cast all the spells she likes, she'll be spending more of her campaign money on her rent again in December.
McNabb1966 | Sep 21, 2010, 11:36 AM EDT
If Christine O'Donnell doesn't know the difference between good witches and bad witches it's not because she's a "dullard" but because it's not an important distinction for someone who couldln't care less about the whole subject. It's her opponents who are making a big deal out of her high school experimentation. The press are "quoting her" from a decade ago when she was commenting on things that happened a decade before that. Give it up, wingnuts! lol
hollabackgurl | Sep 21, 2010, 10:16 AM EDT
These are Christine O'Donnell's facts. The press are quoting her directly. If she can't tell the difference between a Wiccan and a Satanist it's because she's a dullard, not them.
Sorceress | Sep 21, 2010, 09:35 AM EDT
Ok I would like to make it clear for anyone who can't get their facts straight. If she once had a picnic date on a satanic alter then she once hung out with Satanists. Satanists ARE NOT Witches!!!! Witches and Warlocks, Pagans and Wiccans are completely different then Satanists! Get your facts right people before you print in a paper!!
MichaelByrne | Sep 21, 2010, 05:17 AM EDT
Can she get me Harry Potter's autograph?

Questions and Answers for Chastity Freaks:
Q. Will "impure touches" send you to Hell forever and ever?
A. Yes, they will. And don't you forget it.
Suppose I don't want to be a holy-holy about sex?
A. You don't have a choice in the matter. Refer to Answer One. Eternity is a pretty long time, so whatever you're planning, forget about it.
Q. Don't you you're pretty small-minded given all the evil in the world you could focus on?
A. Spoken like a true lecher. You'll go to Hell for sure with that attitude.
OK, I surrender. How do I do it?
A. Pray to St. Maria Goretti.
seanomelbourne | Sep 20, 2010, 09:50 PM EDT
We are not U.S. citizens only on the outside looking in at the right wing menagerie and what fools you look over seas.
McNabb1966 | Sep 20, 2010, 09:43 PM EDT
Exactly right, IrishAndProud! And speaking of hip and chic, how about the Democrat nominee for Senate down in South Carolina? lol I've got two words for the koolaid cadre: Alvin Greene. Nothing says hip and chic like an actual felony indictment! I'm sure that Comrade Cahir has been meaning to write an article about it...
IrishAndProud | Sep 20, 2010, 09:24 PM EDT
McNabb: also please realize that many of these lib critics are not even United States citizens, and are not even in it. Regardless, they're all cheap-shot artists, pounding away on O'Donnell simply because they sense it's the hip and chic thing to do -- one of the most popular activities of the unprincipled. But, they're irrelevant. Unless they're actually citizens of Delaware, they cannot cast a single vote for or against her -- and can only take snide shots on a website that doesn't make a lick of difference in the whole American political scheme, when it all comes down to it. Don't frustrate yourself, my friend. Nothing on this post has or will change what happens in Delaware. Remember, she'd already been written off once, and her critics ended up with a mouthful of crow. Let them risk it again, and have fun watching them.
McNabb1966 | Sep 20, 2010, 08:41 PM EDT
It's interesting that all the koolaid-drinking wingnuts want to focus on O'Donnell rather than talk about Harry Reid's Pet Coons.
McNabb1966 | Sep 20, 2010, 08:31 PM EDT
@seanomelbourne...FOX "cowards?" They've got a lot of former Marines over at MSNBC, do they? How about true American heroes like Bill Maher, Jon Stewart and Michael Moore? lmao!!! And considering the hysterical, frenzied attacks by the Left on ALL Conservative women, it's particularly amusing for you to claim that Michelle Obama has been unfairly targeted. And here I thought you were making some progress. But it's obvious that you're as hypocritical as the rest of the kool-aid cadre.
IreneMarie | Sep 20, 2010, 08:26 PM EDT
I think this woman is a disaster and I hope she does not become a U.S. Senator. I think America is truly in danger if people like O'Donnell can be elected. What idiots we look to the world to try to export Democratic governance and have someone such as former President George Bush and the possibility of O'Donnell as a U.S. Senator.
McNabb1966 | Sep 20, 2010, 08:24 PM EDT
@hollabackgurl...As usual, the Leftists among us like to dish out the abuse but can't take it. So now you're against "insults?" That was fast! lol But when it comes to agendas, maybe you can tell me why even Democrat candidates are running away from Obama and the Reid-Pelosi agenda?
maloney | Sep 20, 2010, 08:21 PM EDT
seano...and her dissertation was about what?
TomDem55 | Sep 20, 2010, 08:10 PM EDT
Is she qualified, NO She has a pending complaint against her for stealing campaign funds from her own campaign (crew complaint) She thinks scientists have grown MICE with human brains She is simply not qualified for the Senate and as for "Picking on her" her life is FAIR game, she has led it openly, witchcraft in HS? I don't care about that Kids do stupid stuff in HS I do care that she is a perennial candidate w/ no substance and remember you righties, You all castigated President Obama for attending school in Indonesia, and your buds at FoX called it a Madrassa, which it was not and you doofuses still think he was born in Kenya, well aside from the birth certificates, take a look at the BIRTH notices for him printed in the newspapers in Hawaii when he was born...
warrenpoint00 | Sep 20, 2010, 08:08 PM EDT
She sure is a nut man and what about the other tea party NUT candidate for governor in NY. He is going to make his dog chief of staff if elected. These people are making AMERICA the laughing stock of the whole world. Then again these tea party zombies think America is the whole world.
seanomelbourne | Sep 20, 2010, 08:07 PM EDT
In your dreams McNabb1966.We have Broomstick Chrissie's own admissions of guilt and impropriety. You have the Fox cowards(who would never wear their countries uniform)castigate a war hero. M Obama was derided by the right when they extrapolated one sentence from her dissertation. Typical right wing cowardice if you can't get the man get the woman and then run for the hills when the sh-it hits the fan.

@seanomelbourne...So you're admitting the attacks on O'Donnell are bogus? You're acknowledging that this is a feeble attempt at "swift-boating" Christine O'Donnell? Wow, honesty from a Lefty... Progress!
IrishAndProud | Sep 20, 2010, 07:06 PM EDT
Vincem13, O'Doherty is a radical, fringe, anti-American leftist agitator who writes silly things strictly to anger people he's not even part of (he's not even an American himself, if you were not aware of that). Further, any posts that state this fact have a history of just 'disappearing' from the line-up...so read this quickly before he and/or whoever else censors it (a practice usually CURSED by liberals -- when it comes from the other side, that is).
seanomelbourne | Sep 20, 2010, 07:02 PM EDT
O'Donnell's favourite songs "That Old Black Magic"and "Come Fly With Me". No one on the right objected when Michelle Obama was castigated for a university dissertation written whilst a student. No one on the right complained when John Kerry was swift boated by the likes of O'Reilly,Hannity,Malkin and the rest of the Fox cowards who never had the guts to wear their country's uniform. They tried to hide the fact that the Rev Wright was an ex marine. Oh the crocodile tears for broomstick Chrissie.
IrishAndProud | Sep 20, 2010, 07:01 PM EDT

McNabb1966 | Sep 20, 2010, 06:39 PM EDT
Next "hardhitting" newsflash from Talking Points Memo: O'Donnell, the toddler years! Anonymous sources indicate that 2-year-old Christine O'Donnell refused to eat her vegetables! Be sure and ask the important rhetorical question: Can O'Donnell overcome the stigma of the "terrible twos?" lol
vincem13 | Sep 20, 2010, 06:33 PM EDT
Dear Mr. O'Doherty: I know it was certainly an honest oversight, but Ms. O'Donnell has an opponent in the Delaware Senate Race. He is a Democrat named Chris Coons. Comrade Senator Harry Reid calls him "my pet". When he was 21 Mr. Coons wrote an article entitled "The Making of a Bearded Marxist", about his own change in political ideology. A high school student dabbles in the forbidden a few times and its a BIG story. A college senior admits to being a Marxist and its a non-story. Well, Comrade O'Doherty from your perspective I can see how that can be.

Keep spinning, koolaid drinkers! Since when did the atheist Left have a problem with Wicca? LMAO! Apparently O'Donnell was neither sheltered nor closed minded when she was growing up. That's a good thing, right New Agers? Sorry, wingnuts, the real magic in the Delaware senate race appears to be O’Donnell’s, and it’s not due to witchcraft.
killowen | Sep 20, 2010, 04:54 PM EDT
its witchcraft - her leader Palin got the blessing of an african witch doctor. 'One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar, and I didn’t know it,' she said. 'I mean, there’s a little blood there and stuff like that. We went to a movie and then we had a little midnight picnic on a satanic altar.'
beachline | Sep 20, 2010, 04:43 PM EDT
O'Donnell is quick to tell everyone what she is against, but, never states what she is actually for. Her only qualification for political office is that she has a big mouth and does not give a direct answer to a question.
P~Flynn | Sep 20, 2010, 04:20 PM EDT
Much ado about nothing. She was in high school, for Pete's sake! Who didn't do some of the most idiotic stuff at that time in their life?
hollabackgurl | Sep 20, 2010, 04:09 PM EDT
IrishandProud are you shocked to hear the Republican primary winner from Delaware participated in Satanic rituals?
IrishAndProud | Sep 20, 2010, 03:42 PM EDT
I agree, Hollabackgurl. O'Donnell is the MUCH preferable option, since we've had nearly 2 years of the Harvard professor who won't even release his papers or opinions, and who attended 'G-d D-mn America' Rev. Wright's church for twenty years, but of course was 'shocked' when Wright's opinions came out during the campaign...never mind that this man MARRIED him and Michelle, and baptized their two children. Oh, that and the Bill Ayers connection (a terrorist) who hosted Obama in his living room as he began his campaign. But let a woman candidate mention 'witchcraft?' Oh, can't have that. I'm sure you fancy your post poetic and creative, hollabackgurl -- but it's rather partisan and lame. Pardon my honesty, if you must.
McNamara31 | Sep 20, 2010, 03:39 PM EDT
MaryM292..Just where and when was Obama a drug dealer in High School and College, as you have stated below? Enlighten us. So now he's a socialist, Marxist, communist, Kenyan, and a drug dealer.Maybe the Gop knows they can't win on facts only "framing people" with smear. But when it comes to one of their own, "no problem", didn't everyone with political aspirations dabble with witchcraft on altars smeared in blood? No biggy. Someone should have told Obama, you didn't have to study, go to college become head of Harvard Law, because now in America, the dummer the better!
maloney | Sep 20, 2010, 03:30 PM EDT

What she does in the privacy of her own coven is her own business but why does she have to force her Satanic lifestyle down our throats? I don't want to hear about blood and chicken bones in the U.S. Senate.
MaryM232 | Sep 20, 2010, 01:42 PM EDT
This is ludicrous. O'Donnell, like so many kids when she was in high school, hung out with people who were into witchcraft, big deal. She went on a date with a guy who took her to a site on a picnic and she didn't know anything about it, big deal. What is worse, is that Barack Obama was a drug dealer in high school and college. Bwaney Fwank's boyfriend ran a prostitution ring out of Franks condo in DC, and the list goes on. O'Donnell's opposition Chris Coons, while a "divinity" student, proclaimed himself a bearded Marxist, he supports abortion and Obamacare's death panels, and he doesn't think raising taxes should ever be a problem. People of faith know what that means, so get over yourself. O'Donnell was a kid at the time, kids make mistakes and walk away from those mistakes having learned something.

Green, pelosi, frank, dodd & obama make O'Donnell look like Mother Theresa. I wonder why so many people are posting on monday during working hours? Drawing that free obama money is it. When I first heard this story on the Sunday news I thought, wow, not a terrible thing unless you're running for office. Now I see she didn't say she practiced witchcraft, just had a date with one. One of my ex daughters-in-law actually practiced in a good witch coven. She was different but not a bad person. I will never run for office. You are fair game for all the innuendo, political spin and mud slinging for what, some power? There must be big payoffs if you get all this bull along with it.
JamesMurphy | Sep 20, 2010, 12:12 PM EDT
In all seriousness, Dumbell O'Donnell is, like her heroine, the similarly dimwitted Sarah Palin, a tremendous asset--for Democrats. Even voters of a Republican persuasion--save, that is, for Tea Party ignoramuses--surely wouldn't admit to voting for her. Her day is done!

Irishlassred | Sep 20, 2010, 10:55 AM EDT
How did "it" come to this? Just read the comments. Because no one is willing to meet anyone else half way. This #$% about the President not being an American is about as stupid a comment as has been made: this country is not ready to give up the incidious issue of racism. People are afraid because the President happens to be biracial. Big flipping deal. So this candidate flirted with being a witch - OK. Perfect timing, it IS fall. Until and unless this country decides that both the election of 2000 and 2008 are over then nothing is going to change. The central government has no desire to modify anything so long as the people that elect them can't agree to disagree. Politely and without name calling. Gosh, you'd think the folks here are first graders by their tenure but first graders are in school at this hour and have more important things to do then sling mud at another.
feeneycj | Sep 20, 2010, 10:43 AM EDT
Teenagers in high school don't always pick the right friends. Ouiji boards, haunted houses, gory movies; stuff teenagers like for a while. Now, at age 41, is what people should be aware of, not over 20 years ago. I'd say the witchhunt is being done by people like Bill Maher, who makes his living out of bashing female politicians.
hollabackgurl | Sep 20, 2010, 10:36 AM EDT

When the world does not understand something they make up the wildest stories. This is just one more time of fighting for OUR country. Reds

Christine O'Donnell in Delaware. Joe Miller in Alaska (who you will recall wants to end Social Security.) Both were endorsed and heavily supported by Sarah Palin. While the nuts on the Radical Right go prattling toxically on about Obama, their beloved Tea Party encourages these loonies. But what can you really expect from a party that pretends that its populist, yet receives it funding from the Koch Bothers, Rupert Murdock and Paul Singer? Kids in Tea Partyland; you're being duped by your wealthy, corporate masters, professional fund-raisers, born-again bigots and washed-up pols (think Dick Armey.) Why not venture back into the middle? Why not try a little common sense and moderation? Its not too late.

Chesapeake, one little correction. It wasn't Barney Franks son who ran the escort service. It was Barney Franks live in male lover who ran a prostitution ring from their shared home. Just wanted to set the record straight....Carry on

Well, hey, it was just a little Satanic altar and a little bit of blood. Finally, a Republican who openly worships Satan instead of quietly doing his work to our country.

This is terrible! Next thing you know we will have an American president who hangs out with weather underground bombers and sits in a pew for 20 years listening to "Rev" Wright spewing hatred.

Barry Goldwater must be rolling over in his grave on the turn of Conservatives and the Tea Party. Good luck to that.

My brain aches when I hear anything about this woman, as it does with Palin. I spent 10 years living in the State of Delaware, and the prospect of O'Donnell holding political power is horrible to contemplate.

Let's see... Barney Frank's son was running an "escort" service from Barney's basement... Dodd and Kennedy were infamous for accosting waitresses in Georgetown bars... nonpayment of taxes... voter fraud... misuse of power... and Teddy should have at least been idicted for manslaughter - if not murder... Now, I admit that witchcraft (the practice has softened greatly since Salem) is a little weird; but nothing... absolutely NOTHING compares to the systematic runation of the greatest nation the world has ever lnown in just two years by a president whose very citizenship is actually in question. Perhaps she is simply into 668 (the neighbor of the beast).

Makes a beautiful fit in the dem. led congress don't you think?

Was the date with a "Witch"? Then she went on a date with a woman. Is that true? Oh Boy! Just one more dagger (or broom handle) through her heart.

I'm as right wing as the next guy - but this lady's a screwball

Well, she was only a witch for a little while... now she's a teabagger.

Hello, Coons A MARXIST. What about your boy Al Green? Don't remember? How convenient.

The odds are pretty good that the Republicans are pressuring her to quit the race. Castle has a chance ofr winning; O'Donnell doesn't. She's made too many off-the-wall statements.
You have to wonder what they have to offer her that's better than making a big name for herself. If they pressure her too much she denounce them in a tell-all book. Her best bet is to stay put. November's not that far away, and she'll make lots of friends if she hangs tough.
Republicans should learn a lesson from this mess. Pandering to the lowest common denominator may be popular, but a party can't afford to run out of ideas. Whatever else you say about Christine O'Donnell, at least she stands for something. When you look at the rest of the field, that says quite a lot for a Republican candidate.

What poll or polls can you cite to back up your assertion that the Democrats will win big-time this November, K8EEEsez? What evidence are you looking at? Because if you cannot cite any real, convincing evidence, then it only sounds like you're actually a screaming lunatic, saying only what you wish to be the case because you're mad at the other side. Again...where's your evidence?
K8EEEsez | Sep 20, 2010, 04:28 AM EDT
THAT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE DUMBEST THING SHE'S SAID! She's such a lunatic! Perfect candidate for the Republicans, the last time any of them made sense was in the 1950's. Now they're the embarrassing uncle of American politics. I don't think you can get a nom in a GOP primary unless you're starkers. However, in Nov, the US voters will put them in a straight jacket where the belong....BELIEVE IT!

'Christine O'Donnell's in trouble.' That's exactly what they said before she won on Tuesday. Here we go again.
