Robert Pattinson is influenced by James Dean, inspired by Johnny Depp

Robert Pattinson, who is currently jetting around the globe promoting his latest movie “Remember Me,” told Parade magazine that he was influenced by James Dean and would like to sustain a career like the one enjoyed by Johnny Depp.
Pattinson, who knows a thing or two about female adulation following his meteoric rise to the top of the heartthrob charts with his turn as Edward Cullen in the “Twilight” movies, admits that James Dean is someone whose career has been an eye opener for him.
“I think he was like the most influential person for young guys, especially actors, in the last 50 years. So yeah, I mean, I'm not ashamed to say I am very much influenced by him," said RPatz.
In an revealing chat with Parade, the 23-year-old went on to say that he would like be known for his acting ability as opposed to his massive popularity and points to Johnny Depp as someone who is revered for his craft.
"You keep trying to make your name stand for something other than just like meaningless celebrity,” he said. “It's a difficult battle, but I think people like Johnny Depp have done that. He's not judged by his public image, it's just his acting that counts. To get to that place takes a lot of discipline and a lot of hiding."
Pattinson, who shot “Remember Me” in New York last summer, has been complimented by co-star Pierce Brosnan for the way he comports himself in the face of such media scrutiny and fan adulation.
