Robert Downey Junior says therapy saved his life

Once troubled star Robert Downey Junior says therapy has turned around his life and he has encouraged his friends to begin analysis, saying it changed his life for the better.

"Therapy is great, therapy just works. You just go in and... sit down and you go, 'His fault!' And then start from there... I fell apart like 10 years ago and now everything is fine," dailystar quoted Downey Jr. as saying.

Between 1996 and 2001, Downey was frequently arrested on drug-related charges and went through several drug treatment programs, but had difficulty staying sober. After being released from the state prison in 2000,Downey finally began to sort his life out.

Since then he has been an actor much in demand most recently playing the title role in 'Sherlock Holmes.'

I think it's Great that he tuned his life around. Because when I was seven my dad died from drugs. So it's good that he can live his life and enjoy it as if were you last. I think he did the right thing and look at him now his a great actor.

It is not easy to pull yourself out of addictions and bad habits. Using therapy to get straightened out and change your life is great. Everyone deserves a second chance and he has made the most of it. Loved Sherlock Holmes and Iron Man!!!

I'm very glad he was able to turn his life around. He's always been vivid and heartfelt in his acting.

I am a huge fan of Robert Downey, Jr. (and Liam Neeson) What's there not to like!**! Downey is the epitomy of authenticity and knows how to tell one on himself!

Not only do I admire what Mr. Downey, Jr. did to turn his life around, but I believe he is blessed with many talents. He is definitely one of the better actors out there today, and I can't wait to see Iron Man II tomorrow. I hope it's as good as the 1st. I loved it!

Stay clean Mr. Downey. Role models like you are needed. Oh. A great work in the movies Iron Man and Sherlock. Loved your take Sherlock. Quite a bit different from the traditional take.
