PHOTOS - Royal Wedding Photo Gallery

The couple - who married at London's Westminster Abbey this morning - drew cheers from the scores of spectators outside Buckingham Palace as they appeared on the balcony and kissed for the first time as a married couple.

Kate and William - who will now be known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - were joined by their bridal party and their respective families including Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Kate's parents Carole and Michael Middleton to watch a fly by of Royal Air Force (RAF) jets.

With the UK enjoying a public holiday to celebrate the nuptials of Britain's future king, onlookers were in high spirits.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz Royal Correspondent Colette Fahy at Westminster Abbey after the service, Mayor Boris Johnson shared his joy, saying: "Wasn't that good. Wasn't that just absolutely brilliant?"

Onlooker Mary Adams from Oxfordshire who camped out overnight to get a good view of today's proceedings said: "Kate looked so beautiful. I hope they'll be very happy together."

Amy ~ too much bubbly on the day,perhaps, but they are now the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - not Cornwall - that belongs to his Father still! Boris Johnson is not LORD Mayor - just Mayor. The Noble title of Lord Mayor belongs to the ceremonial head of (The City London). Political London is two Cities joined together : The City of London and the City of Westminster; known simply as "London" or "Greater London". Try and get something right, dear, and start them off on the right foot!

I dont like royalty much, and cant stand Charles and Camilla, but William and Kate seem to offer something new, and will hopefully do their best for their country, and take it even further away from the outdated - and offensive - memory of an empire.
