While the 'Alex Cross' star's 15-year-old daughter Kyle is a huge fan of the boy band, Alex doesn't rate their music and is trying to convince her to change her musical tastes.
He told chat show host Conan O'Brien: "She's a huge One Direction fan. She's got this major crush on Harry Styles. And I'm a huge music fan and we're having that classic father-child argument about music right now. So I'm trying to encourage her to explore music that's outside of the boy bands."
However, Kyle doesn't want to listen to her 46-year-old father so they have agreed not to discuss the band – which is comprised of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik – anymore.
He added: "I upset her every time we talk about One Direction, so we've pretty much had to agree to not talk about One Direction at all. Every time she brought up One Direction, I felt it was my responsibility to bust their chops, and she would get very upset."
