The 'Tudors' star - who has been in rehab five times for alcohol problems - met the people at a pub in Brixton, South London and continued partying with them at a private residence where he reportedly downed cans of cider and attempted to play Bob Marley's 'No Woman No Cry' on a guitar.
A source at the party told The Sun: "He was drinking pints of cider and was off his face."
Last month the troubled Irish actor refused treatment by paramedics for more than 30 minutes, meaning they were forced to call police and he was eventually taken away by ambulance to a facility near his home in Maida Vale, North London.
A witness said: "This is very sad. It was the opinion of those present that he tried to take his life."
Worried neighbours saw the 33-year-old actor - who was believed to have overdosed on unspecified pills - rushed to hospital.
One onlooker explained: "I saw the ambulance arriving and was worried to death.
"Jonathan is a lovely guy. You see him all the time in the street. He says hello and is very pleasant."

Stop the press! An alcoholic actor went to a party and drank : )

JRM's out-of-control behavior is going to eventually derail his career. Rehab is useless until the person accepts the fact that he/she is powerless over alcohol and/or drugs and is committed to leading a life of sobriety. Evidently, JRM isn't there, yet. He either thinks he can control his drinking or he doesn't care. Hanging out with the drinking crowd isn't going to help him stay sober. The clock is ticking.... Btw: I read that girlfriend Reena Hammer has dumped him for good.

I saw the video that is on the Sun site. It is disgusting. This actor is intoxicated and the creeps that he was with all have their faces blurred out in the video.... more than likely they sold it for money and the fine upstanding moral people working at The Sun paid money to play this mans misfortune on the internet. Addiction is bad enough but when people prey upon the sick that is disgusting and The Sun will have no luck for their behavior.

Very sad, I hope he gets the help he needs. He must feel very alone. I hope someone can reach him.

I am in agreement with all 3 previous comments, to a degree. My mum is an alcoholic and manic depressive. I don't understand the grip these demons have on a person's mind, but it is strong, and I am thankful I haven't inherited that particular genetic makeup. And, unless something stronger and more compelling than alcohol for young Meyers comes into his life, I believe, like "colkelley," that he will soon be joining Ms. Winehouse. That said, I just hope he, and all other performers-whether in the arts or athletics-who succumb to the ravages of drugs and alcohol are not turned into "heroes," for having done nothing but squandered such marvelous talent and opportunities.

If you're not of the same frame of mind then you can't possibly understand addiction and how it works. I'm amazed at the amount of people who run to the press tattling about their brushings with celebrity. Hope Rhys Meyers finds his way soon.

They all need sympathy. "There but for the grace of God, GO I!!!" It's inexplicable how these young people with great talent can't get it all together.

He can be buddies with Amy Winehouse real soon. Addicts who refuse the best possible treatment available deserve no sympathy.
