Could Irish-American actress Olivia Wilde be the new Angelina Jolie?

The rising star looks posied to take on the role of Lara Croft, in the “Tomb Raider” franchise. 

“The idea is to get a top director and an intelligent script and make this an empowering character for women as well as a popular one with men,” a source said.

“Olivia is just one of the names being suggested for the lead role. She would appear to be ideal.”

Wilde was first named as a contender for the role last December alongside “Transformers” star Megan Fox and “High School Musical” hottie Vanessa Hudgens.

“The idea is to make a movie around the game which would tell the story of the origins of Lara,” a source added. “It will be action packed, gritty and much darker than the previous Tomb Raider movies.”
