Elaine Paige says sorry to Susan Boyle

Bookmark and Share

Wow! That was some fast turnaround.

One day Elaine Paige is calling Susan Boyle a virus and the next day she says she didn't mean it that way.

Either way we're glad to hear that Elaine has made up with Susan.

Speaking in London last night Elaine said she never meant to call Susan a virus.

"I wasn’t referring to Susan herself; I was referring to the speed of her fame spreading as fast as a worldwide viral marketing campaign."

"I have always said it’s very hard for someone to be fast-tracked to stardom without any prior experience - I know this as it happened to me when ‘Evita’ opened and I found it extremely difficult in the beginning.

'Today, of course, it’s much harder with the phenomenon of the internet - Facebook, YouTube etc - it seems it only takes minutes for fame to spread around the world - and that’s why I used the word ‘virus’!

I think it was just a poor choice of words.
I don't know. Did she really not mean it that way or is she now backtracking like so many others have when they tried cutting Susan down and then later on regretted it? When I read that article yesterday, it didn't sound to me that she meant it in a 'nice' way. I really enjoyed seeing Elaine and Susan singing the duet and was certainly let down when I read all the nasty things that she said about Susan yesterday.
Seems to confirm the idea of the usual twisted media hype being involved with the previous postings on the subject...yes?
