Conan O'Brien loses out to Jay Leno in NBC shake-up

Looks like Irish American funnyman
Conan O'Brien has lost his battle with
Jay Leno on
NBC.
TMZ is reporting that Jay will return to his 11.30 p.m. slot after the network finishes up broadcasting the Winter Olympics (seriously, who watches that?!).
NBC sources are tight-lipped on what that means for Conan.
It could be that Jay's show will just be 30 minutes in which case Conan will follow him or, worst case scenario, Jay's show will go to 60 minutes and it's curtains for Conan.
TMZ says Jay and Conan have both been made aware of the changes.
Hmm. Wonder who sought those changes out in the first place.

Living in France, all I get now is Conan, though I used to get both. Prefer Leno but don't want to kill either off. Neither compare to John Stewart though. And where's all the new talent??

I like Jay Leno very much. He however did not give Conan a fair chance. His 10-p.m. show is the pitts. He wanted to retire and that is what he should have done. I think Jay has had it.!!!!

I'm glad. I like Leno but was not willing to give up the regular dramas at 10 PM. I'll be glad to see Leno back on after the news. Never watch O'Brien-think his humor like Letterman's is very immature. Hope they keep Leno and that adorable Jimmy Fallon who is warm and funny.

Who watches the Winter Olympics? You've got to be kidding. America's greatest ever Olympics moment, possibly the greatest sports moment in American history, was at the 1980 winter games. The scenery is generally spectacular - wonder what British Columbia will look like in Feb - and the sports are fun, if mostly esoteric pursuits of snow-bound Europeans.

My favourite show is Craig Ferguson, so I don't care what happens to these two. I will be watching the Winter Olympics (seriously).

Don't watch either one, so I couldn't care less except for the ancillaries whose jobs will be impacted.

Conan O'Brien is NOT funny at all; at least Jay Leno is funny and relates his opening monologue to headlines form papers or actual events and people. Good change!

It's too bad. I think Conan is really funny and inventive. Leno relies on too much political humor and asking people questions with ridiculous answers, for my liking.

I could care less. Can't stand Leno, and O'Brien is rarely funny.

Whenever I tuned into O'Brien's show, all I ever heard was his overuse of superlative term, "...great show..." several times EVERY night. It got to be a little tiresome and much like "the boy who cried wolf!" when it wasn't a "great show," not even on one night of the ten I might have tried to watch. It will be nice to have Leno back in a slot that seems to fit his humor. His opening monologue plays off current events, so it seems to segue better with his show right after the local news.

Oh no! What will we do for laughs without doofus Conan O'Brien on the air! This is terrible.
MotherIrish | Jan 08, 2010, 08:57 AM EST
YEAH! Conan is a real bore but now I have to turn over and go to sleep while the big guy watches Leno - his favorite but then again, I don't have to watch Leno for an hour each night. There are real blessings in this.

He did the same thing to Letterman. What a fink is that Leno. (Its all in a great HBO movie and book called "The Late Shift") But I's more of a Nightline fan.

Personally I am sick of Jay Leno. I feel they are really jerking Conan around with all this.Leno should have never given up his slot and went to the new time slot in the first place. He bombed at the new time so now they will shift Conan around to bring Jay back at 11:30. People are just getting sick of Leno. I say they need to run a bunch of old Johnny Carson reruns. These guys can never fill his shoes.
