After his latest drug and alcohol fuelled hotel rampage last week, Charlie Sheen is considering sobering up with family on the Emerald Isle, according to the Daily Star.

The 45-year-old actor, whose grandmother Mary Anne Phelan emigrated to the U.S. from County Tipperary, has relatives in Ireland.

His cousin Teresa Phelan said she would welcome the “Two and A Half Men” star into her home in the village of Kilbarron.

“It’s a much quieter life down here and he could walk around without being bothered by anybody.
“He needs to look after his health and avoid the limelight.

“Living here for a while would be a good thing for him to do,” said the 72-year-old.

Teresa has stayed in close touch with Charlie’s father, veteran-actor Martin Sheen, who completed a university degree course in Ireland four years ago. Sheen has begged his son to take advantage of his family ties there.

Martin is schedule to begin filming a new movie called “Stella Days” in the nearby town of Borrisokane.
If Charlie accompanies his father to Ireland, Martin and Teresa hope to persuade the troubled actor to enter the Northfields rehab center located in Clonmel.

After Sheen flew into a rage with porn star Capri Anderson last Monday, he was rushed to from the Plaza Hotel, in New York, to a hospital complaining of chest pains. The 22-year-old Anderson, whose real name is Christine Walsh, is suing Sheen for “mental and physical distress.”

Said Sheen’s cousin Teresa “If any ordinary person goes out, gets drunk and falls over, nobody takes a blind bit of notice. But when somebody famous like Charlie does it, then it’s suddenly a big deal.”

Alcoholics shouldn't have any drinks - NONE. Alcohol is toxic for an alcoholic, no matter where it's found. If Charlie had a "few drinks" in Ireland, it would probably lead to big trouble. Remember what a few drinks did for Jonathan Rhys Meyers at the airports in France and the U.S.? He had to check into rehab. Like Lohan and Rhys Meyers, Sheen needs rehab and also AA. He's dangerous and totally out-of-control when he drinks and is on track for disaster - just look at his past behavior. Nothing funny there. As an RN in the ER, I've seen way too many "Charlies," who had a "few drinks," and their victims - many of them dead.
It's a good idea. The Hollywood environment is toxic. You lose track of what's real and what's important. Ireland, despite the recent Celtic Tiger changes, still has good basic values. Some fresh air, good food and nature will help as well. Drinking is done in a very different way than in the U.S. It is more social, nursing a pint at the local pub, wine with the family at a meal or over Christmas pudding ;-) Go for it Charlie!
Might be just what he needs.A few visits to the local pub might be in order too.An opportunity to drink and chat with regular folk as opposed to the pretentious lot he partied with over there.Acquire a bottle of eau de irish,a welcome scent in that neck of the woods. One third diesel oil,one third cigarrette smoke and one third cow dung..drives the women wild so it does.
mmm? best of luck to him I have always like Charlie but speaking as an Irish man if you're looking to rehab you don't visit the worlds biggest bar :)
