The British tabloids are falling over themselves this morning to report that "Susan Boyles over at airport."
According to the Sun Susan "sparked complaints from travellers on Tuesday after she reportedly began singing into a mop in a bizarre scene at London's Heathrow Airport."
Really? Singing into a mop? What's wrong with that?
Susan was waiting in the first class lounge for her British Airways flight to Chicago (where she's set to appear on the Oprah show) when she began dancing and "belting out songs into a mop head."
An eyewitness told the Sun there was "chaos" in the lounge.
"Susan was very restless and agitated from the minute she walked in and immediately started making a scene. She was singing and dancing around, shouting obscenities at full volume."
The Sun says that BA staff "tried to calm her down only for SuBo to flee the Terminal 5 lounge, yelling: 'I've escaped, I've escaped!'"
Given the types who normally travel in first class they probably expected her to mop the floor instead of singing.
I'm not sure if this constitutes a so-called breakdown. What do you think?

With all the thousands of cell phones with cameras. NOT one picture!!!! Leave Susan alone please. This is all garbage. I would die to see Susan do anything! Just to breathe the same air is a blessing.

The legitimate media shouldn't be serving up this tabloid trash. When Susan travelled to the U.S. for Oprah she was a perfect lady. She's pure class. Now if you want some juicy copy you should write about my meltdowns in Heathrow. It's the most chaotic, aggravating aerodrome on this planet. Abandon hope all ye who enter there.

I also wonder why it took about 48 hours after the event to come out. I don't get it.

A tabloid report should be assumed not to be true. Susan may have been clowning around, as she likes to do, and the unnamed "source" turned it into a "meltdown," as they love to do. We have seen this happen before with our own eyes. The sad thing is that so many people take it at face value, and it becomes a "fact." This is what The Sun and others do for a living!

Don't you think that there is enough money in their budgets yet to charter a flight for her so that this kind of thing doesn't happen. Simon needs to stay on top of things...this could have been prevented!

I agree with ArielAZ. "Damage control needed" indeed. I also think, because Susan is so unpredictable, her press agent or her best friends might do her a favor and point out that whatever antics she does are always going to be reported and analyzed: many times unfavorably. Her brother Gerry once said that his sister is a 'loose cannon.' She has no idea that any of her fun, spontaneous actions would be scrutinized so harshly. I think someone should at least let her be aware.

Whatever happened or did not happen, Susan's team needs to do damage control immediately and issue a statement either denying this if not true or offering some explanation for it. They need to do it for Susan's sake--and also publish the reply on Susan's Official Site.

Sounds like Susan was having fun--like Gene Kelly's mop dance in the old movie "Thousands Cheer". Sounds like this happened in the "lounge" aka "restroom" when they were cleaning--that's the only place where she'd be alone. (I saw her arrive in Chicago with her entourage, so I know whe wasn't alone.)
I think both British VIP's & the tabloids seriously need to develop a sense of humor.

I think this story is actually possible, but, in the age of the camera phone - and EVERYONE in the VIP lounge at Heathrow has one - if it wasn't filmed by someone, I'll be a wee bit skeptical.

I think that I don't believe any of this! I belong to Susan's largest fansite and some of our members were at the Oprah taping last Wednesday. They reported to us that Susan was funny, relaxed and sang great. Even the people at the taping were impressed with her that had gone to see someone else also on the show. Have gotten nice comments from some of them! Quite different from what is being reported in the tabloids. Watch the Oprah show on Jan. 19 and see for yourself!
