Megastars Bono, Lady Gaga, Usher, Jason Mraz, Akon, Jennifer Hudson, Enrique Iglesias and Toni Braxton have signed up for the all-star re-make of the 1985 Lionel Ritchie/Michael Jackson benefit track "We Are The World."
I'm not sure if this is good news or bad news.
I mean really, does the world need another version of the syrupy sweet "We Are the World?"
The good thing of course is that the big-hearted stars have signed on to do this to raise money for Haiti.
It's not the first time Bono and Lady Gaga have shared the same stage.
Last year they were both featured artists in the Red Night's Birthday Concert for Irish rocker Gavin Friday.
Legendary producer Quincy Jones, who produced "Thriller," Jackson’s most successful record ever, will also produce the re-make.
The song was originally recorded in a late-night session immediately following the 1985 Grammy Awards show, and the new version is following the same time frame this week.
The complete roster may eventually add up to more than 100 billboard artists. Other musicians who have been linked to the re-make but not officially confirmed yet include: Pink, Natalie Cole, Justin Timberlake, Carrie Underwood, Kanye West, Eminem, Jay-Z, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Fergie, Wyclef Jean, Rob Thomas, Brandy, Julianne Hough, will.i.am, T-Pain, Randy Jackson, Gladys Knight, Keri Hilson, Faith Evans, Nancy Wilson, Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, Josh Groban, Katharine McPhee, Jordin Sparks, Sugarland and The Jonas Brothers.
