Tuesday was a big day for Bill Maher.
Not only did he have his very own star unveiled on the Hollywood Walk of Fame but he also managed to drop the N-word on "The Larry King Show" and no one seemed to notice.
Maher said he couldn't wait to see the GOP debates before the 2012 presidential election.
According to the CNN transcripts he said "How are they going to out fire-breathe each other? I mean where this rhetoric has gone to at this point? It's only 2010. And we're having Newt Gingrich, as we were talking about before, calling [the president] an anti-colonial Luo tribesman. Luo tribesman."
He continued "That's the new Kenyan, Larry. And Kenyan, of course, was code for [the N-word]. But that's where they are. They can't say it out loud. But that's where this whole campaign is going to be."
During the unveiling of his star earlier that day Bill Maher thanked George W. Bush, Sarah Palin and the pope for his star.
Dr. Laura, are you listening?

If you really want to get in trouble, try using the F word (fat) when describing your spouse. Abe Lincoln found that out the hard way.

Blacks can say it, Reid can to. Now dems, liberals, socialists, left win loons, SEIU, college professors & gays, who's next. Hell it won't be long & I'll be able to say it.

The context is quite clear. Unlike that nut Dr Laura, Maher is quite obviously arguing against the implicitly racist use of language here. There's no ambiguity.

Robert Byrd, the Grand Kleagle of the Klu Klux Klan, regularly used the n word, burned crosses on negroes lawns and burned their houses down, probably lynched some too, but he went on to be the grand old man in the senate, a proud democrat. He was allowed to have his senate seat for over 40 years and would still be there aided and abetted by his fellow democrats, but alas he died and finally had to pry his cold dead hand away from the voting handle....Yes there are two sets of standards in the liberal world.

And Larry seemed very comfortable, just a little knowing smile. Made it seem like Larry is used to using those types of slurs.
