One Direction Versus The Wanted

A battle of the bands has begun. Comments between the boy bands One Direction and The Wanted are heating up to see which band will come out on top in America.

Max George from The Wanted said to The Sun, “Our song is No4 in the charts. Maybe when [One Direction] have a song next to us in the charts over there, they’ll be competition” and One Direction told Heat Magazine that they are shocked that Max would say that and angry that The Wanted are brushing them off.

Both bands have been referencing their place in the charts and awards to bolster their claim to top band. One Direction recently won several awards at the VMA’s including best new artist.

Tom Parker, a member of The Wanted said Monday in a radio interview on Radio One Breakfast Show that his band covers more genres of music. After BBC host Chris Moyles implied that One Direction was more popular, Parker said, “Our new single I Found You is a bit different. We like to mix it up. We try not to be stereotypical.”

Max has said that “there’s no rivalry” but both bands are quickly working their way to the top of the charts. The Wanted’s song has reached number four in the charts and this week One Direction’s album became number one in the iTunes chart.

However it ends, both bands already have large fan bases in America. One Direction was forced to change floors in a New York Hotel to escape an invading group of fans and Niall Horan cut short a sightseeing trip in Times Square because of screaming fans. The Wanted will play on Jay Leno’s chat show and MTV’s Spring Break show in the upcoming weeks.

Which band do you think will rise to the top?
