Gunner Kiel
Brian Kelly and the University of Notre Dame are on the verge of pooching the number one high school Quarterback from under the noses of the LSU Tigers.

Gunner Kiel, who is 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds and Rivals.com's No. 1 pro style quarterback in the country out of East High in Columbus, Ind., verbally committed to LSU on Dec. 27 over Notre Dame and a host of other schools, including Indiana. He had committed to Indiana and broke that pledge before saying he was LSU bound.

He passed for 2,517 yards and 28 touchdowns as a senior and is ranked as the No. 1 pro-style quarterback in the 2012 class by 247sports.com.

"From what I have been told, he is no longer coming to LSU," recruiting expert Michael Scarborough of Rivals.com/TigerBait.com said Monday night. "He wants to come to LSU, but his mother (Aleta Kiel) got very emotional Monday and did not want her son to leave. He plans to enroll in classes at Notre Dame on Tuesday."

"If you follow his recruiting story, he has changed his mind a lot," Scarborough said. Early in 2011, Kiel had said Alabama and Oklahoma were his finalists.

"What has been relayed to me is that he wants to come to LSU, but his parents want him at Notre Dame because it is closer to home," Scarborough said.

There are also reports on the wide world web that the top DL in the country Arik Armstead is to make his decision today with regard to his future football and basketball career. In the running for his talents are Auburn, Cal & Notre Dame.
