Prepare to have your heart melted. By a professional athlete. No, seriously!
Let’s face it, athletes these days are generally best not put on a pedestal for adulation, or even to be treated gently as a minor role model. However, every so often one goes and does something that reaffirms our collective faith in them.
Step forward Derrick Coleman.
He is the 3rd deaf NFL player ever, and the first to play on the offense. A fullback for the Seahawks, Coleman takes his lead from Quarterback Russell Wilson, and then follows his superior instincts the rest of the way.
Whether you are a fan of the Seattle Seahawks or not, it is very easy to root for this inspirational young man. Coleman starred in an advertisement that went viral and started to become a household name off of the back of that.
After the advertisement went viral, Coleman received a moving letter from a young girl who is also hearing impaired.
‘’Good Morning America’’ decided to interview the two adorable girls, 9 year old Riley Kovalick and her twin sister Erin, and as they did, this happened.
It’s funny how often, in this muddled, crazy World we live in, a young kids words can ring out loudly above all the noise.
"Just try your best."
