Celtic hammered home their Scottish title intentions with a 5-0 victory over Dundee on Sunday, but Irish striker Anthony Stokes insists they will not take their foot off the gas.

Joe Ledley scored twice, with James Forrest, Dylan McGeouch and Gary Hooper also on target as the Bhoys moved 21 points clear at the top of the table.

Stokes told the Celtic View, “It doesn’t matter how many points clear we are. It wouldn’t make difference as we’re expected to win every game, and we want to win every game -- the fans expect it.

“Irrespective of how far we go clear, the next game is the most important one. The gaffer always says that, and that’s how we will treat them from now to the end of the season.

Celtic edged closer to the Scottish title with that 5-0 win over Dundee at Parkhead on Sunday when Joe Ledley pressed his claims for a new deal with a man of the match performance.

Manager Neil Lennon said, “We weren’t great in the first half but in the second half we were excellent and I am really pleased with the five goals.

“That’s 23 goals in the last five home games so we are really starting to turn it on at home. I was pleased with Dylan. It was a great goal and that was our fourth or fifth penalty in a row (we scored) which makes a nice change for us.

“Ledley was great and deservedly got man of the match. He is a very important player and proved that over the years. He is talking about staying on here and I would like to do that if I could, he is a great player for us.”

Lennon has confirmed the club plans to hold contract talks with Thomas Rogne and Irish winger Paddy McCourt.

Captain Scott Brown will find out next week if he requires surgery on an abductor problem.

“The specialist is coming back with his prognosis. He may need surgery but we won’t know that until Monday, the specialist is on holiday at the minute,” said Lennon.

“We are expecting the specialist to say he may need surgery. If that is the case we will get it done. He is a very important player, the captain, but the squad is strong.”
