Irish UFC sensation Conor ‘The Notorious’ McGregor has made a winning start to his bid to conquer America and has promised his army of fans there’s more to come.

The Dubliner maintained his unbeaten record with a unanimous decision against Hawaii’s Max Holloway in Boston on Saturday night.

The Irishman won the featherweight contest on all three score cards despite picking up a knee injury in the second round.

The American crowd gave McGregor a rapturous reception and he admitted he was blown away by their reaction.

McGregor told the Irish Times: “I’m at a loss for words. I wanted to stand up all the way, he caught my leg in an awkward position, my leg was wobbly when I got up. You live and you learn.

“I had to readjust after the injury, I tried to play around with it, I threw a little sidekick, I threw some shots, but it was wobbly.

“I just listen to my team, I listen to my trainer, listen to the people in my circle. Everyone else, they don’t exist.

“I really wanted to finish, I can’t stress that enough, I want to put people away.”

McGregor will now look to fight in Manchester or Las Vegas before Christmas.

He added: “I feel like a champion, honestly, put me in with anyone, anyone in the world, I’m dangerous for them all. I’m just looking for my time to prove it. And it will come.”
