Rory McIlroy fancies his chances against Tiger Woods

Northern Ireland's superstar Rory McIlroy said he is hoping the United States will chose Tiger Woods as their Ryder Cup wild card because he feels he will be an easy challenge.

McIlroy, 21, told reporters on Monday he would love to take on the American golfer in October's Ryder Cup which is to take place at Celtic Manor in Wales.

McIlroy fresh from third place at the PGA Championship this past weekend (he also came third in the British Open) looks forward to playing with the European Team in this years Ryder Cup.

Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy is hoping that struggling world number one golfer Tiger Woods is picked as a United States wild card for October's Ryder Cup - because he believes that he will be easy prey for the European team.

"I'm sure we'll probably see him (Woods) in Wales," said McIlroy, who was one shot off joining German Martin Kaymer and Bubba Watson in the PGA play-off which Kaymer went on to win.

"I would love to face him. Unless his game rapidly improves...I think anyone in the European team would fancy their chances against him."

Although McIlroy doesn't feel Woods deserves a place on the U.S. team he feels he will get it anyway.

"There are a lot of American players playing better than him at the minute but it's always an advantage to have Tiger Woods in your team," said McIlroy.

"I think he'll (Corey Pavin) pick him. I don't think it would go down too well in the States if he wasn't picked."
