Notre Dame (2-2) head coach Brian Kelly is very confident his squad has what it takes to build upon its two game winning streak. "One of the things I liked about our football team at Pitt is that it showed poise and confidence down the stretch," Kelly said while previewing the game against Perdue (2-1) on Saturday.
The Fighting Irish did not win in a convincing fashion in South Bend having to battle back from a five point deficit going into the fourth quarter. However, coach Kelly will take a win anyway he can. "I'd rather be out-coached and win ugly and do all those things but at the end of the day win the football game," he explained.

The next challenge for Notre Dame will be a match up against the Perdue Boilmakers (2-1) at Ross-Ade stadium. The Irish may be the stronger team but Kelly is not taking any team lightly. Perdue could very well make this a statement game. "Every team that plays us is their rivalry game, the biggest game on their schedule. And we have to match that," Kelly explained.
Thus far Sophomore quarterback Tommy Rees has been inconsistent. On the season he has thrown an impressive 7 touchdowns. But he is also responsible for 6 interceptions. Coach Kelly recognizes his upside but demands more from his QB. "You can put together an incredible highlight reel with Rees, and you can also put together a blooper film," Kelly explains. "We better not be talking about this stuff next year or there'll be another quarterback."
