The Notre Dame women’s basketball team is fresh off their first ever Big East Championship win over UConn last Tuesday. The hungry Irish have been one win away from the National Championship Title for the last two years and are eagerly awaiting another shot.

Having only a pair of losses to Baylor and zero conference losses this year, Notre Dame’s women's basketball team will be expected to make their presence known in the upcoming tournament. The Fighting Irish will lace up to play UT Martin on Sunday at 5:05 on ESPN2.

The number one seeded Irish will surprisingly travel to play Tennessee-Martin although all other one seeds are playing at home.

Notre Dame head coach, Muffet McGraw, expressed her thoughts about the seemingly unfair situation and said, “It's disappointing that we didn't get a neutral site. I thought that the committee would take care of the No. 1 seed, but you've got to play good teams.  If we're the No. 1 seed, we ought to be able to take care of business in the first round, at least."

Muffet McGraw will continue to rely heavily on her senior all-American point guard, Skylar Diggins, who's no stranger to success.  Diggins has the second most points in school history with 2270, the most wins ever with 126 and is a two time Big East player of the year.  Its safe to say Diggins is a special player who is going to have to do a lot for the young team.

“Shes a winner, and that's what jumps off the page most about Skylar Diggins, shes a winner,” ESPN’s Kara Lawson said of the WNBA bound senior.

Diggins will lead the Irish through her last march madness tournament with likely tough matchups against Duke and Uconn.  If the Irish reach the National Championship Game again they will likely face dominant  Baylor.  The sensational Brittney Griner and the Baylor Bears will look to repeat the championship and cap off two spectacular seasons.
