Rory McIlroy continued to slip further down the leaderboard at St Andrews as play continued at St Andrews. He is now in the tied sixth position at the lucrative Major championship event.

South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen now leads by five strokes over Mark Calcavecchia at the tournament.

“I’m very confident the way I’m playing,” Oosthuizen said at a news conference. “I’m hitting it well, and I’m just having a lot of fun.” The South African was able to complete his round before gusting winds got in the way of play later in the afternoon.

The 21-year-old from Northern Ireland is now 6-over par through 11 holes today to fall to 3-under. Meanwhile golfing legend Tiger Woods, seeking his third consecutive win, is now even-par after nine holes and 5-under for the championship.

Grame McDowell, the other Northern Irishman, is tied for sixth place also. On the eighteenth hole he's at five under par.

The Republic of Ireland's entrants are not faring well. Shane Lowry is leading the pack of the Irish, tied for twenty-third place, while Colm Moriarty is in 64th place and Padraig Harrington is in a woeful 107th spot, 5 over par.
