Rory McIlroy has denied all claims that his relationship with Caroline Wozniacki is over – but newspapers in Ireland are again reporting that the big romance is finished.

McIlroy, in New York for the Barclays Championship, claimed on Saturday that all is well with his love life.

But the Sunday Independent newspaper in Dublin has claimed that tennis ace Wozniacki is ‘utterly distraught’ according to friends after the ‘break-up’.

The paper has repeated claims made by the Irish Sun on Saturday that McIlroy ended relationship after more than two years together.

A friend told the Sunday Independent that a besotted Wozniacki has found the break-up to be ‘very difficult’.

A source close to McIlroy also told the Sunday Independent yesterday: “They’re done, it’s over.”

McIlroy denied the split however when interviews by the New York Post on Friday night after his second round at The Barclays event in New Jersey.

He said: “Uh-huh, yeah, it’s all good. Just because we changed our Twitter profile picture doesn’t mean that we’re not together. But yeah, it’s all good.”

Friends of the pair believe their split sparked the decision to change their profile pictures on Twitter.
