Irish International Liam Lawrence is intent on joining Glasgow Celtic and has asked his club to lower their asking price.

Stoke value their man at £2 ($3) million, but Celtic have only offered £1.5 ($2.2) million.

Lawrence, who spoke with former on-loan Celtic striker Robbie Keane about life in the SPL, is keen to continue his career north of the border.

“Keano says Celtic is an absolutely massive club with unbelievable support, stadium and training ground.

“He rates it as one of the biggest in Britain, and I’m very excited about the prospect.

“I would love to play in front of 60,000 and in the Champions League.”

So far Stoke have not budged on their valuation of the player as it is rumored that both Wolves and Newcastle are prepared to meet their asking price and scupper Lawrence’s Celtic dream.
