Monaghan-born heavyweight boxer Kevin McBride, famous for ending the career of Mike Tyson, probably ended his own career last night when he was defeated in a comeback attempt.
McBride returned after almost three years but lost a unanimous decision in an eight round bout to Zack Page in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Page is what politely used to be referred to as a 'tomato can' a well worn fighter and an easy mark for a fighter on the comeback trail.
But McBride was unable to even get past him.
The Boston-based McBride, 6 feet 6 inches and 282 pounds was always in trouble against the smaller, faster Page (6 feet, 205 pounds).
Page, 37, of Warren, Ohio, is now 21-29-2. McBride, also 37, is 34-7-1.
