Eddie came to the United States in 1987 to work with sales yearlings at Pegasus Stud. He eventually went to work as an exercise rider for George (Rusty) Arnold at Keeneland in Lexington and Payson Park in Florida. He later worked for trainers Tom Skiffington and Niall O'Callaghan before becoming private trainer for Jack Kent Cooke's Elmendorf Farm. Eddie opened Kenneally Racing, a public stable in 1997.
Eddie captured the biggest win of his career in 2007 when Kelly's Landing scored in the $2 million Dubai Golden Shaheen under Frankie Dettori in March. In June of ’05, Kelly's Landing had broken the six-furlong track record at Churchill Downs, running the distance in 1:07.59.
Bushfire, an other stable star, retired in 2007. Eddie says Bushfire is special because "I picked her out for a modest price at a sale and she has gone on to be a top filly." Bushfire was purchased privately after she was listed as not sold on a final bid of $37,000 at the 2004 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October yearling sale. The filly was a finalist for an Eclipse Award as champion 3-year-old filly in 2006 after three grade 1 victories in the Ashland, Acorn and Mother Goose.
