I failed to par my predicting standards last week, going 3-4 against the spread, bringing my season record to 8-6. There was the birdie; picking Ohio State to keep it real tight against USC, and the bogey; thinking Oklahoma State was going to drop 60 on Houston.   But like Robert Downey Jr., I've been known to bounce back.

Of course, we’ll start with the Fighting Irish.

Michigan State @ Notre Dame: It’s difficult to picture a secondary that can contain Notre Dame (stud) receivers Golden Tate and Mike Floyd. The two run circles around defenders and are incredible to watch. This is catastrophic news for the Spartans, who let Central Michigan throw for 352 yards and three touchdowns last week. I know it’s easy for me to say Clausen is going to throw for 400 yards and four touchdowns, but he is. Weis and co. will get back on track. Prediction: ND 38, Mich State 18

Georgia Tech @ Miami (Thursday night): Tech was tested last Thursday night. Miami survived a thriller in Tallahassee in week 1. How is Miami QB Jacoby Harris dealing with all the hype he’s beginning to face? How will Ga. Tech QB Josh Nesbitt rebound from a horrible performance last week? These questions will all be answered, after the Jackets triple-option through the Hurricanes. Prediction: Georgia Tech 31, Miami 24

Boise State @ Fresno State (Friday Night): The Broncos own the Bulldogs like Joey Chestnut owns Kobayashi. They’ve won seven of the last eight meetings between the two schools and I can’t see that changing, especially after an emotional win for Fresno last week. The Broncos have an up and coming star in QB Kellen Moore. He leads them to a pull-away-late victory in the fourth. Predicition: Boise St. 35, Fresno 24

Tennessee @ Florida: Dear God, when I said those comment about Florida and coach Urban Meyer, I was half joking. I knew they were gonna beat us, but I needed to inspire our alumni and boosters and players. I didn’t mean to upset Tim Tebow. Please let them take it easy on my men on Saturday. Sincerely, Lane Kiffin (Tennessee head football coach.) P.S. On a scale of 1-10, how mad is Tim really? Prediction UF 42, UT 17

Nebraska @ Virginia Tech: There are a few things in this world you just don’t do. You don’t get naked in public, you never hit a woman, and you don’t watch VH1 reality T.V. shows. Oh, and you certainly don’t travel to Blacksburg, VA and win in Lane Stadium. ‘Braska does make it a really good game, though. Prediction: VT 24, Nebraska 20.

Florida State @ BYU: The Seminoles football team is on and off like a light switch and they’ve been that way for five years now. Last week they almost suffered one of the most painful losses in school history.  This week they get it right, take down a red-hot BYU squad and kill their BCS dreams.  I’m just saying.  Prediction: FSU 27, BYU 21

Texas Tech @ Texas: I still remember last year’s epic showdown like it was yesterday. So does Texas QB Colt McCoy and the rest of the Longhorns. Uh oh. Prediction: Texas 49, Texas Tech 27
