An Irish World Cup star had the windscreen of his Porsche smashed after a pig’s head was left in the locker of a devout Muslim teammate.

Stoke City and Ireland midfielder Glenn Whelan is at the centre of an internal investigation after a series of incidents at the Premier League club’s training ground.

Muslim striker Kenwyne Jones was said to have taken offence after the pig’s head was left in his locker.

Reports in the Irish Sun newspaper say Jones went on a ‘rampage’ after the end of season prank caused him hurt.

The paper claims that Jones is believed to have thrown a brick through the windscreen of Whelan’s expensive Porsche Panamera sports car.

Stoke defender Brek Shea later tweeted an image of a pig’s head from what looks to be the club’s changing room.

The paper says players are believed to have passed the bloodied head around the dressing room before hiding it in the Trinidad and Tobago ace’s belongings.

It adds that all hell broke loose when the deeply religious centre-forward discovered he was the victim of the sick pork prank and took his anger out on midfielder Whelan’s car.

A club insider told the Irish Sun: “It was chaos, we could hear shouting and yelling coming from the dressing room area but we had no idea what had happened. But Kenwyne Jones stormed out in a rage.”

Jones’ girlfriend Kissa Abdullah was enraged when she found out. She tweeted: “Big men acting like kids a pigs head is not a prank its just disgusting!!!!! Wtf??? I don’t get how was that sup 2 be funny!!!! Really???”

“They put a huge bloody pigs head in his clothes at training. He warned them 2 keep out of the banter or else! u kno the rest.”

She later added: “Listen 4 all those who don’t get it lay the f! back! Where I come from that’s not anywhere close 2 funny! Esp not knowing religious beliefs.”

The Premier League club later issued a statement in response to reports of an incident at their Clayton Wood Training Ground.

It read: “The Club takes seriously reports of an incident at our Training Ground this afternoon.

“A full internal investigation will be carried out and those responsible for any unacceptable behaviour will be dealt with in accordance with the club’s disciplinary procedures.”
