Momentum is gathering for the Breezy Gaelic Sports Team Building Day on June 8 with confirmation that former Derry boxer turned actor John Duddy will be master of ceremonies for the day.

This unique event will bring work colleagues, family and friends together in a wonderful celebration of Irish sport and culture.

Former middleweight pro Duddy, who is starring in Bon Jovi's music video shot late last year, will be on hand to keep visitors and participants entertained throughout the afternoon.

It has also been confirmed that one of New York's great GAA rivalries will be renewed in Breezy Point when the FDNY and NYPD battle it out in the Gaelic Football seven-a-side tournament which forms the focal point for the day.

Former stars of Gaelic football will be on hand to help coach and assist the competing teams. Two competitions will take place - one for complete beginners who just want to experience Gaelic football first hand and another for outfits like the FDNY and NYPD to lock horns.

However, there will also be a host of entertainment for children, a DJ and the local pipe band to form a musical backdrop to the day's events.

Hosted to help boost morale as the area continues its recovery from Superstorm Sandy, the Gaelic Sports Day will also help raise funds for the Breezy Point Disaster Relief effort and support the Gaelic Players Association's Education Fund, assisting amateur county GAA players with their college careers.

The Breezy Cup will cater for novice players, men and women, who have had no experience of Gaelic football but would like to give it a go, experience the thrill and enjoy the fun. Competing with other rookies, Breezy Cup contestants will learn the basics of Gaelic football and get the chance to put their new-found skills into practice.

Experienced participants, men and women who currently play Gaelic football or who have played in the past, can compete with their company for The Irish American Cup.
