Former Irish international soccer player Paul McGrath is scheduled to appear before the courts after being arrested outside of the Tullamore Court Hotel in Co. Offaly on Saturday evening. McGrath was charged under Sections 4 and 6 of the Public Order Act.
Specifically, these violations are public intoxication and insulting behavior in a public place/disturbing of the peace. After the arrest, McGrath was taken to the local Garda station, where he was released on bail and given a July 17th court appearance date.
The 53-year-old famed Irish footballer has spoken openly about his struggles with alcoholism in the past, exposing many of his personal demons in his 2006 autobiography Back From the Brink.
His alcoholism followed him through his illustrious football career, wherein he won 83 caps and scored 8 goals in a 12-year international career as a defender.
