Ireland 6 pts

England 12 pts

Ireland's Grand Slam dream and their Triple Crown ambitions were well and truly sunk by England on a miserable afternoon in Dublin.

Brian O'Driscoll had plenty to shout about early in the day when wife Amy gave birth to their first baby, a daughter.

But there was little to cheer for the Ireland center or his teammates afterwards as they were left to rue the early loss to injury of both Simon Zebo and Jonny Sexton.

England bullied an Ireland side lacking creativity from start to finish on a day when the torrential rain made running rugby difficult.

Two Owen Farrell penalties gave the winners a 6-0 interval lead as Ireland struggled after the loss of both Zebo and Sexton to hamstring injuries.

Replacement out-half Ronan O'Gara did kick two second-half penalties to get Ireland back on level terms before England forward James Haskell was sin-binned.

Ireland failed to take any benefit from their numerical advantage however as Farrell added two more penalties to seal a first English win in Dublin in 10 years.
