Kevin Doyle did his reputation no harm whatsoever with a five star performance as the Republic of Ireland defeated World Cup bound Paraguay at the RDS in Dublin on Tuesday night.

The Wolves striker opened the scoring in the seventh when he reacted first to a deflected Duff free kick that came off the bar to head home.

Stoke City's Liam Lawrence doubled the lead in the 37th minute with a clinical finish from a cross from Kelly that was chested on to him from Doyle.

Paraguay pulled one back in the second half with a well worked move that was finished by Barrios but Ireland were well worth the win.

Ireland finish its series of summer exhibition games this Friday against Algeria, another team bound for South Africa.
